As a FORMER employee of the Friend of the Court...I KNOW there are a LOT of other single mom's out there. Why aren't any of them getting together and forming clubs or groups where we can have others to talk to that are in similar situations. Alot of single moms don't have anyone to turn to when they need to talk or need advice, or just need a friend.
We are going to try to get things started, so if you are interested in joining us...please post here, and I will contact you with information.
Flying by the seat of my pants here...I have replies from 4 other moms that are interested, so far. So, I am going to write to each of you, and try to figure out an evening or weekend day that is best for all of us to get together. I will vounteer my home, and suggest that maybe we do a potluck type thing. Then we can at least all meet each other, and try to figure out together how to get this thing started.
So...most evenings are good for me. However, we have an appointment scheduled for every other Tuesday. Weekends are unpredictable, as I have alot of extended family, but I'm sure that if we came up with something to put on the schedule regularly, I could work around that. So...what does your schedule look like?

Oh man, this message is right on time! I'm definitely interested in getting together. I am a relatively new mom (my boy is 15 months) and I am also new to Grand Rapids. My ex is in FL, and has very very little contact with either me or his son. I'm definitely looking for friends in the area and have had very little success in making them.

A little about me- my son't father just enterted his life 3 years ago (when he was 10) and he's NOT doing a good job. I think we all have a lot in common and a lot of support to give each other!

I would love it if there was a group of women who were single to form a group. I'm separated/getting divorced, and I'm a little nervous about being alone here in Grand Rapids with my children. I'd love just to have some social time and get to meet new people not associated with my soon-to-be ex! Maybe we can get a group together...I'm sure there are single moms out there who would love to be a part of this!
