If anyone else had dealt with this, please let me know! I am looking for a doctor that can figure out the cause of this baffling disorder. I have been dealing with chronic hives and angiodema for 6 months now- DAILY. It is not caused by any outside sources (ie: foods, environmental allergies, detergents, etc). It seems to either be hormonal or autoimmune. I am seeing an endocrinologist and rheumatologist and am not happy with either of them. The endocrinologist found my testosterone to be low and has me using a testo cream. He wanted to up the dosage when he found out I am still tired all the time. THe rheumatologist found that I am extremely anemic. Hmmmm - wonder why I'm tired all the time! WHY didn't the endocrinologist see this with his blood tests?? Is there not a doc out there that can piece these clues together and get it right?? I have seen multiple allergists and they are no help because this is not allergy related. (According to all of their tests, I am allergic to nothing.)

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!! (I am open to the idea of naturopathic docs too if you know a REALLY good one!!)
Thanks!

eta: I am willing to travel ANYWHERE in the United States to find a doc that can help me.

FYI: Since I can't respond to a response to my own post - I'll do it here! To Rhonda: That's a good thought, but I have cut all wheat and gluten products out of my diet for a few months now andn it hasn't made a difference. I have basically been living on rice and beans to rule out any food allergies. I have even fasted and it made no difference. (yeah - no fun.) I still break out horribly and swell up the week before my cycle no matter what.

What can I do next?

YOU HAVE AUTOIMMUNE PROGESTERONE DERMATITIS (APD).
I have this disorder and antihistimines DO NOT help. Prednisone was the only effective treatment until I had my ovaries removed (oophorectomy). You need to contact the allergy clinic at a medical school (UCSF) to administer a skin (intradermal) allergy test with progesterone. Good Luck!!

Family Allergy and Asthema located off Churchill Dr in Flower Mound. My sister has had something similar for the past 8 months. She has seen allergists, dermatologists and her regular pcp. They have told her she has had everything from scabes to scarlet fever to mono and it is none of those. She is only 17 and they can't seem to figure out what it is. She recently went to Dr. Fitzgerald and she ran EVERY blood screen possible and even tested her urine for WHATEVER you can be tested for. We will soon recieve the results but this Dr. said she will get to the bottom of this. She came highly recommended. I can only imagine your frustration because my sister has taken every medicine and cream you can think of and still has constant hives. Good Luck and hopefully you will get to the bottom of it.

I know you don't think that food can be causing this but you may want to think again. My son had hives constanly for no apparent reason. Please have your self checked for Celiac Sprue. Do not have the blood test, it is not accurate. Either have an intestional biopsy or a stool test. Go to EnteroLab.com and read up on it. Our entire family has celiac sprue, it is not fun but it is treatable.

I go to a naturalpath and Chiropractor who can help find the cause of the hives naturally. His name is Dr. David Brown and he is in Dallas. His website is http://www.ndamc.com . He treats the cause not the symtoms as most regular drs are trying to do.

Hang in there- there is a cure

I highly recommend Elliot Ginchansky..he is an allergist at Medical City in Dallas. He helped solve my then 6 months old eczema mystery. He is very very thorough.

Have you had any allergy skin panels done or blood work for allergies?

His number is ###-###-####.
