We're looking for vacation ideas - - good places to travel with 2 small children (currently 21 months and 6 months old). What have you enjoyed lately with your family?? We're considering all options - flying, driving, or even train - - and are trying to plan for late spring/early summer.

Carnival cruise lines has childcare on the cruise for the day time so that you both can relax a little. There childcare is awesome and the staff is certified for children. They offer many activities for the children on the ship. They also have great shore excursions. If your interested you can get on their website and research it a little bit or go to a travel agent.

HI H.. My husband and I travel to Pigeon Forge once a year . Usually in the fall, we rent a cabin. It is so relaxing for all of us. Its really ideal for if you want quality time with a little excitement. We have made it a tradition every year for the past 7 years. There are always new things to do. Our children range from 15years down to 22 months now. But it has been soo rewarding being able to share this family vacation with our children every year. Hope I was helpful.

Disney has amazing adventures for ALL ages. I am a travel agent with YTB Travel Network and one misconception people have about Disney is that it is only for "certian age groups". They have everything from toddler entertainment to some adult relaxation spa activities. Through May 22 they are having a "kids fly free" promo! Let me know if you need any further ideas for traveling with the little ones!

If you like History, Virginia is good. Williamsburg is fun, and there is a Busch Gardens there I think, too.

We went to Hilton Head, South Carolina with our 8 month old last year. We have visited there many times before children and love it. To save money, we went during the off season (the roadways can be quite crowed during beach season). The island has numerous programs for children (nightly singers, boat rides geared toward kids). Each Tuesday night during peak season, there is a festival on the harbor boardwalk that ends in fireworks. There is shopping for adults (Tanger outlets are my favorite). The only downside is that there are not a tremendous amount of great restaurants on the island itself (unless you can pay a little more). Savannah, Georgia is only 30 minutes away by car and you can take a ferry there as well. It is a beautiful historic town. Charleston, SC is a little farther but, it is also a great day trip. I hope this helps.

H.,

I too have been researching optiions for travel with two young girls 31/2 and 15 mos. We went to Pigeon Forge TN with my oldest when she was 8 mos and it was a great vacation. We got a cabin with seperate rooms, hot tub, etc. We also hiked the mountains with her in a backpack. She loved it. We took her to the Bahamas when she was 11/2 and that trip was very stressful and not relaxing at all...my whole afternoon was spent in a hotel room while she napped and her bedtime was early. Anyhow, after researching for this summer I found a place in Jamaica called FDR resort or Pebbles. They are all inclusive and provide a vacation nanny for each family to assist with your entire vacation. They help as much or as little as needed and are free with the package. It sounds great and they watch babies unlike most all inclusives who are only for preschool age kids. They will also stay with your little ones during naps, etc. The reviews were excellent, if you like me I have reservations leaving my kids, but this sounds really great! Good luck and hope this helps.

H., check out virginiasafaripark.com. This park is for visitors to drive through or get out and play. The animals roam around and it is a lot of fun! If you want something different....then you can head to the beach :) (all in Virginia- about 3-5 hours away from Charleston)

When our son was 6 months, hubby and I took him with us to Gatinburg, TN. We rented a cabin and so he had his own bedroom (where we kept his pack-n-play) and when he slept, we also had a screened in porch with a hot tub to hang out in. During the day, we shopped, drove across the mountain, walked along the streets, even went to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum. We went back again last fall with my parents when our son was 20 months, and he had even more fun at Wonder Works in Pigeon Forge. There is also DollyWood (we didn't go, though). It's a nice, laid back area with lots of families vacationing. It's really beautiful if you want to get away. And if you rent a cabin, you can even have your own kitchen for cooking, and separate bedrooms for daytime naps or early bedtimes. Most even come with TVs in bedrooms and some have pool tables and hot tubs.
