We are just exposed to WAY too many chemicals. I stopped using my favorite perfume years ago. Remember that your largest organ is your skin, so spraying to directly on your skin, allows it to directly get absorbed into your blood....where your liver now gets to process more chemicals.

Taking Milk Thistle might help you, but then again, I'm more into preventing issues rather than treating them.

Boy, have you hit a hot issue for me. I became chemically sensitive about 20 years ago and have not been able to tolerate perfumes/scented product since. I SO WISH that women (and men!) would wear less, maybe only enough to smell on your own wrist.

I have heard it estimated that about one out of 10 people are at least somewhat sensitive. They may feel disgust for the smell, or may get headaches, dizziness, nausea, confusion, hoarseness, breathing and sleep difficulties even a day or more after being exposed. I have all those reactions, depending on how big the hit was.

I can't tell you how often I have had to leave stores, restaurants, movies, churches and other people's gatherings because I've been overpowered by the scents folks are wearing. I don't even try to attend weddings, funerals, or live theater anymore, those events where some women marinate themselves in perfume, because I've gotten so sick so many times.

Sensitivities tend to become worse with repeated exposure. You might want to consider giving up the perfume (yes, it is a loss, but your health would be a much bigger loss). Clean and fresh is a nice scent, too. My husb. has the most delicious-smelling skin…!

Switch your bar/shower soap. My best buddies and confidantes taught me this one when I was new to selling womans fragrances. Try doing this for a couple of days before venturing out testing samples again and see what happens.
Good luck hunting for something new!!!

I am chemical allergic to perfumes and especially fruit smelling ones. Just a little will cause me to sneeze my head off. Now in a candle and flowers for the house a little ;lillac is fine. But I use very little. I now have a machine called a Buddy that I wear around my next (runs on batteries) that absorb or neutralize the smell I could actually sit near the smokers section in resturants with no problem A great product. I cannot use perfumes so do not. M.

Sounds like you may also be dealing with candida.
Check out a book called the YEAST CONNECTION.
I find essential oils nice.
Lavender, Clary Sage, and Peppermint and some of my favorites.
Find a health food store that carries a wide variety of essential oils and try out several....WAY more affordable than perfume and better for your health too.

I worked for a perfume company for a few years and was constantly asked this question. Many things can alter the scent, such as: Lotions, body washes, soaps with deodorants in them, your laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dry skin also makes the scent disapear fast, etc. Not knowing exactly what the cause is, it's hard to say what kind to recommend. One that was always a crowd pleaser, especially to those who were sensitive to smells, as well as Doctors and Nurses who had to be careful causing reactions in patients is Eclat D'Arpege by Lanvin. I can safely say you can completely dowse yourself with this and not it won't be over powering!! It is a beautiful scent ( a favorite amongst the staff at Saks when I worked there) it has a little fruit and floral in it. A must try. We sold a ton to the staff at the hospital we were across the street from. Hope this helps!

Your sense of smell is the most powerful sense (of the 5 we have). It has the strongest recognition of past memories and is definitely the least understood.

I agree with Sarah that it is likely how the perfume is reacting with your own body chemistry and your sensitive sense of smell. If you don't like the way the perfumes are smelling on you, I'd stop wearing them. Try a scented body lotion to see if that is less of a problem.

I can find no link via Google between perfume and anemia. Ask your doctor to be sure.

I am a nurse and anemia will not cause perfume to smell bad. It might be the soap or lotion that you use prior to trying the perfume or it may be your natural body chemistry is not complemented by the perfume that you are trying.. Perfume is a known trigger for migraine headaches. I get terrible migraines when exposed to perfume.

If you think that you are anemic you should see your doctor and have a blood test done so that you can get treated.
