I do not sell Shaklee, but I have sold Discovery Toys in the past. I quit b/c they were producing shoddy products that did not live up to their earlier work! Products were breaking, or were part of recalls, or did not meet my safety standards- or the standards of my customers. After a number of phone calls to the head office, I told them I couldn't continue to sell their products and quit, with about $500 in mechandise remaining, ugh!
ANyway! I have bought Shaklee in the past from a friend. I did like the cleaning products, but no more than the organic stuff I can buy at a moment's notice at Whole Foods. I HATED the make-up that I bought, it was cakey and looked terrible! (But, I didn't return it to her since I didn't want to hurt her feelings, which puts a strain on a relationship!) I bought a hugely expensive air purifier system ($650) that also stopped working after 18 months and is in my basement. But, she no longer sells for them, so I don't know what to do with it!!
I stopped buying Shaklee b/c she informed me that I would have to purchase a yearly "membership". Since I only bought cleaning supplies, I just said, "no thanks" and have been happily kept in supplies by Whole Foods. I also buy my vitamins through Whole Foods. I think the quality is excellent and the price is better.
Sorry. I hope that doesn't totally disuade you from following your sales dream, if that is what you want to do. I just find that it is 1) Hard to sell to friends, even if you totally love the product...they might not, then it puts a strain on any relationship. 2) No one wants to shell out $$ for a "membership" anymore when they can get hgih-quality organic cleaners at the grocery store and not have to pay/wait for shipping. 3) Parties really do take a lot of time and you have to either book a sitter or wait until your partner is home from work to go, missing out on time you would have together as a family.
GOOD LUCK!
