I've been using shaklee products for about a year now, and love them. I heard that you have to sign up 5 people in order for you to sell. Is this true? Do you really make any $, or spend it all on product for yourself and marketing materials. Is this just a mlm scam? How many years does it take to turn a profit? Are their minimum sales requirements per month? Anyone that joined and loves it, hates it, if you are not a salesperson, have you ever bought a Shaklee product? Why/Why not? Thanks- any comments appreciated! PS I'm happy with my connection, just wanted to ask the question here. If I join it will be under her.

You do not need to sign up 5 people in order to sell! All you need, is to sign up yourself, and just GOOOOO.... you will start earning money as soon as you start selling the products. It's a real good way to earn money. Check out my website and feel free to contact me there. www.perryr.myshaklee.com

I signed up but just to get the discount. I dont remember having to sign u 5 people in order to sell. My director is awesome and very very successful at Shaklee. If you want to talk to her I am sure she would be happy to talk with you. I make no money at all but as the other person said I dont do parties or sell, I just do it for personal use. Good luck.

I do not sell Shaklee, but I have sold Discovery Toys in the past. I quit b/c they were producing shoddy products that did not live up to their earlier work! Products were breaking, or were part of recalls, or did not meet my safety standards- or the standards of my customers. After a number of phone calls to the head office, I told them I couldn't continue to sell their products and quit, with about $500 in mechandise remaining, ugh!

ANyway! I have bought Shaklee in the past from a friend. I did like the cleaning products, but no more than the organic stuff I can buy at a moment's notice at Whole Foods. I HATED the make-up that I bought, it was cakey and looked terrible! (But, I didn't return it to her since I didn't want to hurt her feelings, which puts a strain on a relationship!) I bought a hugely expensive air purifier system ($650) that also stopped working after 18 months and is in my basement. But, she no longer sells for them, so I don't know what to do with it!!

I stopped buying Shaklee b/c she informed me that I would have to purchase a yearly "membership". Since I only bought cleaning supplies, I just said, "no thanks" and have been happily kept in supplies by Whole Foods. I also buy my vitamins through Whole Foods. I think the quality is excellent and the price is better.

Sorry. I hope that doesn't totally disuade you from following your sales dream, if that is what you want to do. I just find that it is 1) Hard to sell to friends, even if you totally love the product...they might not, then it puts a strain on any relationship. 2) No one wants to shell out $$ for a "membership" anymore when they can get hgih-quality organic cleaners at the grocery store and not have to pay/wait for shipping. 3) Parties really do take a lot of time and you have to either book a sitter or wait until your partner is home from work to go, missing out on time you would have together as a family.

GOOD LUCK!

Hi M.,
I am a consultant for Shaklee. I started about 2 years ago. I met several people who were making $400,000 plus/ year doing it, but I have found it hard to make any money doing it. I will admit I have not put the time into it that is needed. I am good at sales, but I have a hard time talking people into something that is good, but also quite expensive. In this economy, it's hard to talk someone into $50 plus monthly vitamins, or cleaning products, etc. Their stuff IS great, but I use my discount for buying things here and there. If you have a great upline who is willing to help you succeed and learn the business, there is a lot of potential. Just like anything, it WILL NOT happen over night.
Yes, if you want to earn a commission, you have to buy a minimum of 100 PV/ month.
Find out how much your friend is making, and see if she is the person who can best lead you to making the money you want to. Are you good in sales? You will need to be so to make good money. Also, be very clear about how much you want/ need to make, and work towards it.

Good luck to you,
T.

My husband's family has been in shaklee for 35 years, and in the old days, you did have to sign up 5 people in order to be a distributor. That is not true now.
You do have to have a minimum personal order of 100PV to earn a check, but the nice part is, there is no penalty for not having that. If no one else orders under you in a certain month, and you don't have enough to earn a bonus check, then you just don't. You can try again the next month. You don't have to keep an inventory or buy huge amounts of products. Whether your bonus check covers your product use depends on how much you use, and how hard you work at building your business. Some people are still only making $500 a month after years in the business, and others reach $100,000 of earnings their first year in the business.
Incidentally, if you haven't asked your friend about what they just announced at the convention, you need to! Amazing new earning opportunity. You can earn an extra $34,000 in bonuses if you advance to certain ranks in certain time frames.

Do your research. I see a lot of feedback from a lot of people who sell this or that or who are total skeptics. There is so much out there and you will need to know what you are looking for so you don't get confused. What products or health concerns do you have? I have used many products from many different companies and have friends that sell from many different companies and we all buy from each other and support each others businesses in that way. Although, I do my research first before I use anything such as calling the scientists for the companies and asking specific questions to ensure the quality, efficacy, purity, and potency of their products. If you want to choose to build a business with a company, take your time deciding but when you decide, you can be successful at whatever you choose, as long as you "do it". I was making $900-$1,500 a month when I was "working" a multi-level marketing company. I took a break and still get nearly $200 a month. Choose something that you firmly believe in their mission, want to support the person, and that you love to use. Have someone come over to show you how to use them and show you on a diagram how economical they are in comparison to other companies.

Hope this helps anyone out there who is considering using or distributing with any direct selling or muti-level company.

You can't go wrong with whatever you choose to do. The damage is not irreversable unless of course you mix bleach with Licsol like I did back in the day. Ouch! Just give it a try, see what you think. Just because you choose Shaklee, does not mean you can't try other things too.

No that's not true. I know this thread is a few years old but i thought that i would answer it. You can begin building and selling from your own business when you join for 35.00 The products are great and Ive been doing it as a business for 4 years now. There are no minimum sales, They don't "lock" you into buying anything. In the winter months, i don't purchase anything. I stock up in the summer and use it all winter. I have a good income that covers what i buy. As a busy mom of three teenagers, that's all i want for now. I have an amazing up line that is both encouraging but never ever pushes me beyond what i want to do for my business. In fact I'm expecting more literature any day now for free from her. I hope this information on the products helps you as well.

Here is some info on the products.
I know its been a few years but i saw your post and thought that i would respond.

i grew up on it in the early 70's. As a person with a compromised immune system(i was anemic in my early childhood) my mom began using it with us. In under a month my dr was amazed at how i went from dangerously anemic to perfect. from the time i was 6 on, I had only 13 sick days from school. 40 years later and with my own children now in their teens, they too have had only a handful of sick days each. I still have muscular dystrophy and a compromised immune system as does my 16 year old but we just don't get sick. The protein from the 70's is not the same as the cinch today. my mom lost over 60 lbs in 12 weeks. She has also kept it off for the last two years. It works if you follow their program. It also tastes really good.

I can also say their cleaners are pure 100% chemical free. If you suffer allergies, it works with out irritation. I've had the same 16 oz bottle of basic H (all purpose cleaner) since oct of last year. thats 7 months ago. It is my window cleaner, my kitchen/bathroom cleaner, my rug shampoo, my hardwood floor cleaner(spray it ahead of my steam mop) and my degreaser. we have a 2100 sq foot house so you can imagine how much i would have spent in the last 7 months to clean it. The bottle was only 8.00 my mom even uses it on her yorkie as a mild shampoo and bella's hair is so soft and clean. If you want more information, i would love to speak with you
sincerely

M.,

I admire your desire to work and earn for your family. Using GREEN products is the most important thing you can do for your family. I have never used Shaklee products, so I have nothing good or bad to say about them. I can however speak of my experience with the company I partner with to work from home. I advertise/refer for a 24 yr. old International manufacturing company called Melaleuca. They manufacture a much larger selection, over 400 everyday products, give an 100% money back guarantee on every product and cost even LESS than shopping at the local grocery store, which is a huge benefit during this time of recession. They have an outstanding track record of success and amazing credentials.

From a business stand point, they are not a Multi Level Marketing company, which is nice. There is NO large investment to get started, NO inventory, selling or delivering of their products, NO billing or collections and NO quotas to meet to earn a commission check. Just like with any business however, you get out of it what you put into it, but I have researched and found Melaleuca to have the most rewarding and ACHIEVABLE compensation plan. It truly is RESIDUAL commission EVERY month. They also now pay weekly with direct deposit.

I have been a customer with them for 2 1/2 years and started my business about a 1 1/2 ago. I work part-time about 10-15 hours per week, around my families schedule and made about $600 my first month. I have done very well since then, though I do not feel the need to share my earnings on a public forum, I would be happy to show you copies of my checks, if you were interested in learning more, something most companies will not allow you to do.

I wish you the best in your decision. I believe creating your own future is extremely important. Good luck and God Bless!

Sincerely, T. S. ###-###-####
