Does anyone have any creative ways to share news of our second pregnancy with my parents who live out of state? We won't see them until Christmas and can't wait that long to share. Our options are on the phone, something in the mail, or online video chat.

What can I do next?

My parents live in Georgia, we are lucky to see them twice a year. I made a video of my son asking him questions like "what's on your face?" "A nose". "What's on your belly?" "A bellybutton." Etc. Then at the end I said "What's in mommy's belly?" "A baby". He was two and didn't totally understand. The coaching from his father and myself were edited out. We emailed the video to everyone, including my in laws who live in town (we wanted to be "fair") and waited for everyone to call us.

When we found out we were pregnant with our first, we were going to see both sets of parents within the week (out-of-state), so no big deal. We waited the week.

This time around, we weren't going to see them for at least two months, so we sent my parents a "Congratulations" floral arrangement. When they called to find out why we had sent the flowers, we told them the big news.

Online video chat. Say "....Oh and I went shopping this weekend and found Henry(your first's name here) some cute outfits. Look at these shirts!" Show them a couple shirts. Then say "Henry, some show Gamma and Papa your new shirt. Mom, Dad, what do you think of this one?" and it'll say "BIG BROTHER" on it. (I've seen such shirts at Kohls or online).

Oh, I'd go with online video chat, if you both have the technology for it. Nice and immediate and you can all see each other's faces. Just don't let them find out accidentally on Facebook first!

On the video chat..hold up a pair of baby booties...or a sign when they get on video chat that reads "your'e gonna be grandparents AGAIN".

We had a onsie made up that had "only child" crossed out and then had "big sister" written in. My baby was only 6 months at the time lol. But they did have t-shirts for older kids.
I just googled make a tshirt and many sites came up. They saw it on web-cam :) we didn't say anything and waited for them to notice :)

We found out I was pregnant with our first a couple of months before father's day. We didn't want to tell anyone too early, and my husband's parents were travelling overseas and not reachable, so we put off telling people for that reason as well. But we sent a copy of our first ultrasound in my father's Father's day card to let my parents know. Maybe send a Thanksgiving card so you don't have to wait...
