My son did that when I fed him too many green vegetables. You may want to check with his doctor just to be safe.

If your son drinks much grape Kool Aid or anything else purple, the food coloring in it will make his stools green. My son drank two sippy cups of grape Kool Aid the other day and had that happen.

I wouldn't worry if it were my son. Has he been drinking any blue or purple colored juices or koolaids? That usually turns my 15 month old son's stools green. I hope I helped. K. J.

Has he been drinking or eating anything purple? If so that might be the problem.

Coming from a pediatric nurse -
Green can be normal as long as consistency is also normal. If the green color is accompanied with diarrhea and/or extremely foul odor (like none you've smelled before!), you may be concerned about Rotavirus or possibly C-diff. In that case, let your pediatrician know.

A lot of things can make the stool green...green vegetables, green kool-aid, maybe purple juices although sometimes it will make it black...if the stools are really hard and green...you may want to have his iron checked as to much iron can also do that. If the iron is fine and he doesn't seem to be ill, it's probably just something he ate so don't worry.

I agree with the last comment. My daughter is two and she had a greenish blue stool yestereday. It was all because of a bday party we went to, it was the color of the icing on the cupcakes. It could mean anything but like the last lady said, if they aren;t sick, hard, running a real high fever... I would say its diffenetly something he ate.
