You have a pediatrician who has a 24 hour question/answer and advice line. Call the regular office line and, if it's after regular hours, you will get to an answering service. They relay that info to your doctor, no matter the hour or the day. There is always a pediatrician on call. You call the number and you do NOT spend time on the internet for medical questions and answers from total strangers who are moms, not doctors, especially for an infant. You want medical advice from the doctor who knows your child and the local resources (urgent care, Emergency Room, etc.). Get off the computer and call the doctor.

What does it say on the back of the bottle of baby oil? Read that.
Call your Dr or urgent care facility and ask.

There must be some information on the back of the bottle as to what to do/who to call in case of emergencies. They usually have some poison control emergency hotline and they would advise you whether visiting the urgent care is necessary or not.

I did find a couple of ophthalmologists that had an answer to your question though, and hopefully, will help you relax:

"While baby oil usually does not do any permanent damage to the eye, it can sting and be irritating.
Flush the eye with water or eye wash for at least 15 minutes and if the eye is blurred or hurting, go to an emergency room."

"Not harmful to eyes but shouldn't be used as an eyedrop or lubricant.
I am guessing that you splashed some in your eye or your babies eye. It will rapidly clean itself out and do no harm."

Not that this is the same, but my kid once ate a marker. I called our doctor's office and I also called our poison control center.

I'd rather get an expert's advice myself. So my suggestion would be to call and talk to your doctor's office.

I'm guessing you already have by now but if not, do so. My kid (who ate the marker) was fine. As a mom, it just makes you feel better to know you did the right thing.

I used to take my mascara off with baby oil. It never hurt my eyes. It made the fluid blurry a bit but if I wiped them down a couple of time it was fine.

Baby oil isn't very dangerous.

I would have called Poison Control asap for instructions on what to do. I would have followed their directive. When I knew all was well, most people don't know, but there is an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for products and I probably would looked at that. Many things you think may not be harmful, may not be necessarily so.

Most Americans don't know, most American made products are not sold in European countries because of the toxins in them. Even though there may be no immediate effects toxins like tricolsan, parabens can have long-term effects on our health.
