Should Toddler Wake up Throughout Night?

I have a 2 year old and more recently she has been waking up throughout the night-- not crying out or anything, just can hear her sometimes bouncing or talking/playing quietly in her crib! My husband goes to work at 4:30 am so he'll often hear her, but when we go in after about an hour or so, she is fast asleep. She wakes up a few times doing this (usually early in morning around 2 and then again at 4 or 5 am, sometimes at around 6:30 or 7 she'll wake again but i try and let her go a little longer bc i'm worried she isn't getting enough sleep, so then ill go check on her again at 8 and shes asleep!

Is it normal for a toddler to wake up this many times throughout the night? even if she is getting back to sleep on her own? I just want to make sure she's getting enough sleep at night! she doesn't seem to be any more fussy during the day than the normal toddler/2 year old tantrums.... and occasionally gets her daily nap (although its starting to drop)

I also worry that since shes still in crib and not yet potty trained (still wears diapers) that if her diapers get too full, thats causing her to wake so frequently??

any advice would be great!
thanks!

It's GREAT that she can get herself back to sleep. I would not worry at all. Her diapers shouldn't be an issue either. If she was uncomfortable she'd let you know.

One thing I noticed with my son (who is 3) is giving him his vitamins at dinner made it harder for him to stay asleep. When I give him vitamins in the morning, he is good at night. When I give them to him later, he is more keyed up throughout the night. I don't know if there's any scientific basis to that... it's just something I played around with.

Sounds like you've got a great little girl there who can entertain herself, is okay being by herself (independent), and can soothe herself back to sleep! She's obviously very happy and secure. Good job mamma!

It is okay.
My son would do that too.
It was just that he was changing developmentally and at times he'd wake like that, but play by himself in the crib and go back to sleep.
And all without crying or anything!

My son tended to do that at growth spurts or at age change junctures.

Your daughter is fine.
And she doesn't seem sleep deprived the next day.

Don't worry.
She's normal.

Perfectly normal. In fact, my 2 year old has been having parties in his room for about an hour every night. No clue why this happens at this age (2 year molars, developmental shift), but they wake up. I remember my daughter doing this.

I am working on dropping my son's nap. He has been wanting to stay up past my bed time (I go to bed about 9), so I am hoping this will help.

But like I said, I remember my daughter doing this.

Perfectly normal. Be happy she is happy to play by herself and go back to sleep. It's what she should do. Enjoy

yes, perfectly normal for a toddler to wake up several times in the middle of the night.. when our 2 year old daughter wakes up in the middle of the night, she is held, offered a bottle and picked up and rocked back to sleep. no fuss, no muss, if her little diaper needs changed in the middle of the night, that gets handled while she is being held.

I'd say she is juuuuust fine. My son, whos in a toddler bed and is 14 months. Hums and sings at night. Out of our 3 he is the ONLY one that wants to sleep alone in his bed. He will just wake up at odd hours and then he put his blanket on his head and starts to hum and moan... sounds crazy sometimes and a little creepy, but he gets himself back to sleep that way. I dont get up unless he comes to his baby gate.
