Simple Free Internet Parental Controls

My 4 yr old son loves to play games on the computer. Up till today he only played games off of disney or PBS sites. These sites I trust and he can click on anything on these sites and they are safe. Well he saw my husband playing basketball on another site and wanted to play too. So my husband bookmarked the site so he could play. Well once he played it he started clicking on other stuff and got to some games that are okay for a teenager but not something I wanted my 4 yr old to play. We tried to download Parental Bar but it didn't work at all (my husband tested it by going to playboy.com and got there no problem). We tried just working with the Internet Explorer parental controls and it's either all or nothing. It will block everything or nothing it seemed. Have any of you ever found a way of controlling where your kids go on the internet?

You should get Kidoz. It's a whole browser for kids to use. My son is 5 and has been using it for two years. We love it. Instead of dealing with blocking stuff... you put in the sites he CAN go to. Everything is icon based, it's awesome... plus he gets his own little webmail account (but he can only send or receive from friends or family YOU set up as contact... you can even make all the messages filter through your account.)

A quick google search for kidoz will be well worth your time.

awesome question would love to know too.

My only advice is to be in the room with him when he is using it and keep and eye on everything.

I hope you get some great answers.

a friend recommended Netnanny but there is a fee.

zoodles, but that is a website with the games on it. Not what you are really looking for.

I also have K9 on my computer and love it. you can totally choose what type of sites you want to allow or even websites that you want it to "never" visit
