Simple Lotions, Shampoos, Soaps?

I am trying to find some products that do not contain fragrances or parabens that are found in many products. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have found Cetaphil lotion (but the Cetaphil soap/cleanser has parabens in it). We are trying to find very basic products that don't have all the extra ingredients that seem to be in everything that we use.

What can I do next?

When we were kids we used Ivory because it was fragrance/dye free, but I don't know about the parabens. Good luck!

I have a friend that sells Lemongrass Spa Products. I believe that they are fragrant free, alcohol free and also preservative free. She has very sensitive skin and loves the products. Let me know if you would want her number.

Good for you for trying to reduce your families toxic exposure. Shampoo's lotions and soaps have been harder for me because you still have to read the labels of everything including things at Whole Foods.
A couple that I have found are Avalon Organics and Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap. You can actually use Dr. Bronners for a variety of things because a little goes a long way.
I also found online Vermont Organic Soap which is really the same as Dr. Bronner's as it is a castile soap.
I use 7th Generation laundry stuff but just recently found a "recipe" to make my own that I haven't tried yet.
This time of year is hard because of dry skin and trying to find a GOOD lotion without all the stuff in it.
Burt's Bee's products are pretty good but I am now a little skeptical since they are now owned by the same people who make Clorox. I think that's what I read anyway.

Good Luck.

Oh, and a GREAT book to read about all this is "The Hundred Year Lie" by Randall Fitzgerald.

I'm not sure about parabens, but Aveeno was really great to me when I was getting hives all the time and the allergist couldnt figure out why.

My daughter has VERY sensative skin.I have only found 2 soaps that are gentle enough for her to use.Aveeno body wash is what I use on her. Also Sometimes dove bar soap, they have a fragrance free one.I'm not sure about the ingredients. The Aveeno also makes a lotion.I don't know if you are interested in Detergant too but we have used ALL free and Clear and I've heard Method is good too.

You might try Arbonne baby products- you can't buy them in a store, but I know an independent consultant if you're interested. You can get more information at www.arbonne.com, and the prices that are listed are retail prices so keep in mind there is a way to get them at the wholesale price.

I like california baby products. I think they are the sort of thing you are looking for. You might ask on mothering.commune, it's a great resource for this sort of thing for me.

I'm pretty sure Burt's Bees is free of all that. They do have a fragrance, but it's all natural to my understanding. Also, I don't know where you live, but there is a shop in Hawthorne Plaza called S-Scents (119th and Roe)and the ladies that work there are very nice and are always willing to help. They also let you try samples of stuff, etc. They have a lot of natural products, so you could start there.

My girls and I are very sensitive to several ingredients, and that was part of our quest for natural products. We regularly use Alba products (face for me, and lotion for all of us.) If the fragrances are a problem, there are fragrance-free versions. I have seen some Alba at Walgreens, but we get the lotion at our natural food store or online (ie: Vitacost.com) As for bathing, we use Zum soaps (locally made in MO, but known all over,) Dr. Bronner's, Jason's products, or California Baby. Good luck!

You can find some amazing handmade soaps, lotions etc. on www.etsy.com

I can't say enough good things about this shop!!!
http://krugsecologic.etsy.com She uses only essential oils and natural ingredients, no synthetic fragrance oils. Her lavender oatmeal bar is amazing!!!!! I am in love with this soap. If you're looking for strictly unscented, she carries those as well. Her lotions are paraben free and if you contact her, I'm sure she can make some unscented for you.

I also make some natural bubble baths and sugar scrubs at http://moodygurl.etsy.com

I don't have any brands to try but Target and Wal-Mart seem to be carrying more products that don't have all the extra stuff in them.

Have you looked at Wild Oats or Whole Foods?
