Oh yeah. Sometimes it's so thick it's impacted in the sinuses and all that comes out is clear. Sounds like they got it right.
My daughter has had a slight runny nose nothing major at all. She came home early from school with a tummy ache on monday. Said something about a headache before bed on Wed and then was crying that her stomach hurt really really bad today. I have had a sore throat so I was thinking possible strep with the stomach pain. My husband takes her into the little clinic and they diagnose her with a sinus infection. She doesnt even really need to blow her nose thats how little boogers she has had. She does have a dry cough too but still I wouldnt have thought sinus infection. Have any of you had sinus infections sans boogers?
The dr did not do a strep test but prescribed augmentin which would take care of strep if it was that too. She did have a fever of 101 this morning

It is probably draining down the back of her throat hence the dry cough. It's still a dry cough because it is only an upper respitory infection still.
Hope she feels better soon.
Yes. All the time. I rarely get the thick nasty yellow snot. However, I found this to be the case with me when the infection has spread from my ear to my sinus. Did they check her ears?
You're thinking of the mucus that comes with a cold. This isn't a cold so it won't act like one. I have a friend with chronic sinus infections (it is miserable) and she does not have mucus.
Did you also have her tested for strep? I would insist that they test her for that as well, especially as (at least around here) strep is always going around, and her symptoms could be either strep or sinus or both at once. It is indeed possible to have both at once. If the doctor stopped at "sinus infection" and didn't test for strep just in case -- I'd go back ASAP and insist on it.
My son (14) was just diagnosed with sinusitis on Monday. He had been having sinus pain all weekend, but his sinuses were not draining. He has allergic rhinitis and routinely has drainage... so it was weird that he was dry and not really congested (as far as breathing) but had lots of pressure. He had a very mild fever one day, and that was the only fever he had.
Doc actually said the same as yours---it's either sinusitis or strep. The office strep test was negative. Used an antibiotic that would treat either one. My son was put on zithromax, however. An adult dose. I was really concerned he would have more issues with the side effects of the meds than he was having otherwise, but he is on day 4 now, and seems to be ok...
He hasn't had any cough and very little drainage. Just pain.
Sounds more like strep to me but you know that's why Dr.s practice medicin. A lot of it is a guessing game. And if they didn't do a strep test there is no way to know for sure if she has it or not. The only way to know is to do a test. But if there meds would be the same I would not worry too much about it.
Yes. In January, I had NO congestion, but the worst headache. Teeth hurt, cheeks hurt, but zero snot! I went to clinic and was put on Amoxicillin. Unfortunately, not only did that not work, but the congestion/snottiness kicked in and I was miserable! I ended up having to close my daycare, something I never do and the doc called in a Zpack...that did the trick!
Also, last week I had a NASTY stomach bug, that started w/a horrible headache. I thought for sure I was getting another sinus infection...but it ended up being one of the worst stomach flus I've ever had. Again, had to close my daycare! 2x in one winter is unheard of for me! So good luck! Hope your daughter and you are feeling better!
It might be all caught up in there and with some antibiotics, it will all come out.
