My husband and I are going to take a ski trip with his family. I would like to go skiing as well , but I am uncomfortable leaving my little boy in a random daycare. Does anybody have a ski resort that they would recommend (in Colorado or New Mexico) that has a wonderful childcare? Likewise, let me know if there are place NOT to take my child. I don't mind staying in with him if the childcare is questionable...

We just took our 15 month old to Steamboat Springs CO, a VERY family firendly resort. It's expensive, but they all are really. It was nice (my son is also 15 mo) and he did get altitude sickness which made nights yucky! I wouldn't recommend going. Someone had to do nap duty too. I was just plain exhausted whne we got back esp. after the plane ride. My son got sick from the plane ride after we returned too. My new motto is no trips until potty training and naps are over.

There is a Walmart there and a lot of family activities. ALso, there is a place called Babies Away where you can rent EVERYTHING (even a bin of toys) for a reasonable rate.

My son was 2 when we went to Keystone, CO. It's been a few years ago now, but even then it was great. They had a great daycare. My son was so shy, but even he had fun. I loved the whole town, so I think it would be worth checking out. It was family friendly and not as expensive as some places. Breckinridge was about an hour and 1/2 away if you wanted to spend some money!! :)

Deer Valley in Utah has a great daycare -- from weeks to three years, and then a ski program after that. We've gone on several occassions and only got great service and care for our daughter -- starting at a year old.

My family went skiing in Taos New Mexico a few years and put my daughter in the all day kid's program. She was 4 at the time. The staff was very nice and my daughter seemed to have a great time. It was PRICEY though, I think about $80 for a full day of care.
