Skiing - Where's Your Favorite Place to Go?

My kids are finally at the age where they have found skiing to be fun - not just fun for a few minutes and then head into the Lodge for hot chocolate!! They actually want to go down several runs!!

Since we live in DC - we have Pennsylvania - Spring Mountain is about 3 hours...
Then West Virginia and Maryland....

So where do you like to ski?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I've only been skiing twice and it was at Hidden Valley and Seven springs. Seven spring is more kid friendly from my two experiences. lol! As a kid I went to Seven Springs Lodge about 10 times but never skied, I was there for dance competitions. But they have indoor pool and bowling aisles.

I'm a big fan of Telluride, of Tahoe, and of Sugarbush, Stowe, Jay Peak and Tremblant. Some of the Maine Mountains are nice too.

Best to you and yours,

Considering that I grew up with snow and cold you'd think skiing and ice skating would be in my blood.
But I'm a total klutz - always have been - I have a lousy sense of balance.
My husband grew up with snowmobiles and they'd go all day long distance or do emergency work during blizzard emergencies.
I've tried them but they are too noisy for my taste.
My favorite winder sport?
Sledding / snow tubing!
We had a gravel pit across the street from our house and in the winter we'd hike back there and sled.
It was tiring just getting back there trudging through thigh high snow.
The hill was great and there was a large marshy area towards the bottom that would freeze solid.
You'd slide down the hill at top speed then slide across the ice forever!
(The wind blew in such a way that you'd have deep snow drift in some places while other places were blown bare to the ground.)
You could only go down it a few times because the walk back to the hill was such a long distance.
Best sled was a semi stiff rolled up plastic type that we sprayed with WD-40 on the bottom (it kept the snow sliding off it rather than sticking).
Our town was near Chestnut Ridge State Park and they have great toboggan chutes.
From where we currently live Wintergreen or Homestead are the closest to us but it'd still be a 4 to 6 hr drive to get there.

We've always gone to Lake Tahoe, but that's just a 3.5 hour drive for us. My husband has gone skiing in Vail and loved it, and says if he ever does another destination ski trip it would be to Utah.
Sorry, can't give you any recommendations closer to home! What about Vermont, isn't there supposed to be good skiing there?

Anywhere in Colorado. My favorites as far as the mountain and the runs go I would have to say Vail. It just gets really busy as do the rest of the best mountains here.

Park City, UT or Banff, Alberta, Canada... Both have a few mountain ranges and great service!
