Hi M.,

I had a similar problem with my son with his skin turning red on his face, arms and legs. I didn't think much of it but when it got worse I spoke to the pediatrician who recommended that we see a pediatric dermatologist. We found a good doctor and I found out that my son had excema. We received medication (a cream) that we've used for the past few months and it has now cleared up. I suggest checking out a pediatric dermatologist because they'll be able to best assess what is wrong.

Good luck!

hi,

Is your daughter particularly pale? It just sounds like blood flow going to her skin for a moment. Doesnt sound like anything to much to worry about, light skin children especially you will see lots of this kind of stuff

Hi M.,
I wouldnt worry about it too much if it goes away after 5 minutes. Does she have pale skin? I know if I wash my own face it gets red, (and I am very pale, with freckles), and it goes away quickly. Some people arejust more sensitive than others. your daughter probably just has sensitive skin. Maybe you could buy extra soft faceclothes. If it lasts more than 5 minutes you might need to evaluate the soap you are using, but it sounds harmless.

If she has sensitive skin it might be the type of wipe your using. I have to use different wipes when I clean my sons face rather than his bottom. Just a thought. Good Luck.

The very same thing happens to my 4 year old when I wash him up after dinner. It can be a combination of things. For us, it is because Zack has sensitive skin (he is very pale, and has eczema), and because the washcloths are too rough for his skin. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi M.,

If she has food allergies, you could take her back to the pediatrician to be sure this is not a different allergy which has come up. Does your daughter have sensitive skin? If so, then you could try different wipes/body wash and see if that makes the trouble go away.

Good luck,

M.
