I need some good breakfast smoothie recipes for my 14 month son and maybe myself. Possibly even something I can get partially ready on Sunday for the rest of the week then just throw it together and blend it each morning. My son get BAD diaper rash if he eats citrus so we need to stay away from that. Any and all recipes are appreciated.

We love a banana-blueberry smoothie made with 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1 banana, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. We just tried it for the first time with a capful of coconut extract (and a little less vanilla) and it was really good.

I make smoothies with almonds, flax seeds, spinach, banana, and frozen strawberry, and sometimes lemon juice. I soak the almonds overnight so they grind easily. Spinach is great in smoothies because you can eat quite a lot without it changing the taste too much.

I was a big smoothie person because I could get my toddler to eat just about anything if it was thrown in a smoothie! I used to hide carrots in all kinds of fruit smoothies! I also make her "pumpkin pie" smoothies - a little canned pumpkin, some vanilla yogurt, a little milk, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and ice - yummy! Good luck!

Hi -

i use the Naked smoothie juice as a base, which is delicious by itself (and would work with a sippy cup). Then I will add banana, strawberries, peaches, whatever fruit I have on hand and some ice. The naked smoothie juice is already packed with nutrients. For me, I add a bit of protein powder. EAS 100% Whey Protien Powder (chocolate) is my favorite. I mix it witha banana and peanut butter sometimes. Good Luck!

oooo, my daughter's favorite (from the book, Blender Baby Food)
8 oz chocolate soy milk
one banana (best when it's a frozen banana)
1/2 c or so vanilla yogurt
1/4 c or so peanut butter
1/2 c crushes ice (not necessary if using frozen 'nana)

Also, I like the bags of frozen fruit from CostCo, berries & tropical, toss in some yogurt and juice of choice, voila! Super-smoothies.

ok, try what I use. as long as there are no allergies to other than citrus.
1 banana
1/2 drained peaches
about 1/8 cup milk or less
some ice
about 3 or so scoops of frozen vanilla yogurt
get some of the better ones not the cheap stuff
1 med egg
put in blender.

no the egg won't hurt you or the boy. it will help extra good stuff. I have been giving this to my kids for years

blend well and drink.
you can put other fruits in. I do like raspberry or blueberry but that is up to you

Hi S.,

Try www.smoothieweb.com They have a bazillion smoothie recipies. I also use whey powder for a boost of protien. I like to use frozen berries a lot, (so I can omit the ice) along with yogurt, milk, bananas, whatever. Flax meal is a good additive-- I usu. add with blueberries, as it masks the texture. Avacado and blueberry smoothie is super healthy with lots of antioxidents and good fats. You can't taste the avocado, but it makes it creamy. My youngest is a picky eater, but will eat anything in smoothie form! Good luck.

This is simple, but my kids love it:
1 cup frozen fruit... I usually use strawberries or mixed berries
1 cup milk
We have a magic bullet and they make smoothies so easily. :)

I make "fake smoothies", which are simple, though maybe not super exciting, but are great in a pinch. I just stir whole milk yogurt with juice in a cup. My kids love it. It is smooth and has no lumps, which works well for sippy cups.

This is what I do. I don't have exact measurments becuase I just eyeball it.

1 cup yogurt ( I usually use vanilla)
1 Cup or so forzen fruit, any variety
One banana sliced (opt.)
1/2 Cup to 1 Cup Juice ( I usually use apple)
A few ice cubes

Stick all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.

Play around with the amount to get the consistancy you like.

One that I my daughter and I really like is Bananas, with milk and orange juice. HOwever, since you need to stay away from citrus, you can substitute it for something else. But its really yummy. Just put it all in a blender. You can even add ice to it if you want.

We add nuts to make it more filling - usually walnuts or pecans or almond slivers. My Aunt adds peanut butter.

My kids love smoothies. They're favorite is yogurt, apple juice or orange juice, bananas, and mixed frozed fruit (usually strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries). We also do peanut butter banana smoothies--milk, bananas, peanut butter, and ice.

The smoothies I make, which I think are very good, are made this way:

1 cup vanilla soy milk
1 banana
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup strawberries

They are really good. My kids and even my husband love them. I use fresh bananas, but the other fruit I buy frozen.

we eat smoothies all the time. What we do is buy vanilla yougart (you use about 1 serving size cup), some frozen berries (as much as desirable, we usually do about 1/3 cup), add a banana, and some apple juice (enough to make it drinkable) its simple and taste great.
