I have some in the Sneaky Chef cookbook, but it is at home. I do know that there is one with spinach and another one with avacado that include bananas. If I remember to grab it I will get back with you-my home computer is down.
Does anyone have a recipe for a tasty yogurt fruit smoothie that you also "hide" vegetables in? The only thing I've thought of is to use the v-8 fusion juice mixed with yogurt. Thanks!

I also recommend the sneaky chef book--it's full of lots of veggie tricks and they are good!
C., my husband and I have been having fruit/veggie smoothies for breakfast for about 16 yrs. In addition to juice, plain yogurt, dry oatmeal and an apple, which are the base ingredients, we add several combinations of fruits. Sometimes we make a berry smoothie (still same base ingredients) by adding blueberries, strawberries and grapes. Other times it's our sunshine smoothie with OJ, an orange, peach, banana, pineapple and a carrot. I have found that pineapple will mask the flavor of carrots and cabbage and can be added to any of our favorite combinations. The only fruits that don't seem to work well are kiwis and grapefruit.
For a strictly veggie smoothie, I start with chicken broth, tomatoes, celery, onion, garlic powder, a little lemon juice ( 1 Tbsp) salt and pepper to taste and a dash of tobasco. You could add plain yogurt for a creamier taste.
I know I've answered your question in a round about way, but hope this gives you some ideas. We also invested in a Vita Mix whole food machine which liquifies the peelings and small seeds completely, giving you the 'whole food' nutrition and is a great way to get tasty, nutritional "shakes" into children. Our daughter made fresh baby food with her machine. It's well worth the investment!!!
Blessings to you!

avocado is great in smoothies, mixed with fruit or by itself. i've combined pear, mango and spinach. cook the fresh spinach a little bit to wilt it. it turns out really bright green but it tastes fresh and delicious. also, the Naked Juice brand has a great mix of fruits and veggies that you could add to the smoothies for extra vitamins.
actually, V-8 splash is the one with the bad sugar in it- not v-8 Fusion. Fusion is actually very good for your child and is the one veggie filled juice that my daughter is allowed to have per her doctor (she is underweight.) But saying that, I really like to use alot of different flavors in her smoothies. Here is what I do to save time: keep fresh bananas and in season fruit around the house (like pineapples, berries,melons..etc) Then keep some frozen veggies and fruits onhand as well. Things that go well together are things like carrots, peaches, zuchini, squash.. stuff like that. If I find that I have gotten too much of a fruit or veggie one week (or I find a really good deal!) I freeze that fruit or veggie. It saves money. Once you have a good variety stock, play with it! I use about 6 oz of whole milk yogurt and at least that much in frozen and fresh "goodies". taste it. think of things you like. I like bananas and chocolate, or peanut butter. You can add cocoa or PB to the mix. You can add sherbet for a sweet treat. If you find it tastes too "veggie like", add more fruit and freeze part of it. You really can't go wrong and your kids will thank you for the new concoctions. PS- Keep track of what you put in. If your child REALLY likes it, you may have a future hit on your hands ;)
Donna is right I've tried it and got away with it I can say this I use apples and grapes and it really makes it taste great with veggies ...oh the green I tell my kids it's a Shrek smoothie and I put out our shrek book and read it while we drink it. For liquid I use water or O.J....grape juice or apple juice you don't have to limit yourself to v-8 also try cranberry juice with oj and pineapple it's great.
Try adding carrots or carrot juice to smoothies that include yogurt or milk, banana's etc. The texture of the carrot if used whole is similar to coconut...if texture is not wanted use carrot juice. Makes a wonderful treat.
I would use fruits and yogurt and spinach. It makes the smoothie green, but it's fresh and good for you. If you use the V-8 fusion juice, you get a lot of sugar, so it really isn't that good for you. But, spinach seems to be the one (and a good one) that works well.
Odwalla makes a "super food" smoothie. And I think Bolthouse farms has a "Green Goodness" one.
Not as much veggies as eating a huge spinach salad, but it's a start.
If your kid is old enough to be turned off by a thick, dark green juice, put it in a covered cup with a straw so they can't see the color.
I got mine hooked when he was too young to care, so he doesn't balk - he begs for "Green Juice" and thinks it's hilarious when he gets a huge green moustache.
My kid's favorite is a liver cleansing slush. Juice a few apples and pears w/ about three inches of cucumber and half a medium beet . .all raw. place juice in the blender with some ice and blend to a slush consistence. If you want it a bit sweeter, add some stevia to taste. It's a fushia color and naturally sweet.
Another great one is vanilla punch: Juice carrots to make about 3 cups or so. Add vanilla milk and ice and blend OR if you want something with lots of sugar and calories, blend lots of carrot juice with a can of fat free evalorated milk. Add a dash of nutmeg if you like and enjoy!
Carrot, apples, pears and any green veggie such as brocali or lots of Kale leaves wrapped around apple slices is wonderful and very sweet. Enjoy!
