My daughter is in 2nd grade. She is in wonderful shape. She does Karate and Cheerleading. She has the last lunch of they day so I want to send in a healthy snack for her everyday. She does not like almost any kinds of fruit. So I am having trouble figuring out what to send. I can not be something that needs to be refigerated. Some things I have sent in are applesauce, granola bars, raisens and crackers. Please let me know if you have any other ideas. She does not like banasas, oranges, peaches,or nectarines.

Thank you

send her with a frozen tube of yogurt (like a gogurt or similar) and it should be partially frozen or all the way thawed by the time she has her snack. Our school got a grant last year and again this year where they provide fresh fruit and veggies at snack for the kids daily.

I make a snack mix depending what my son is in the mood for. Some items I can include are whole wheat bunny crackers, whole grain goldfish, any healthy grain cereal, walnuts, peanuts, almonds, craisins or any dried fruit, pretzels, sunflower seeds, chocolate or yogurt covered nuts, and a few M & M's as a treat. I try to get protein, as well as good carbs in there and he loves this snack. Also, Kashi makes a good cereal bar you might want to try.

You can always freeze a tube of yogurt that she can take with her in the morning. Depending on what time she eats it it will be either half frozen still of all the way thawed out but it will still be fine.

Trail mix (either bought or made at home with things like nuts, raisins, choc/yogurt covered raisins,), chex mix (again with added ingredients that she would like)

Have you tried the dried fruit? I know you said she doesn't like bananas, etc, but the dried bananas taste almost like candy. (you can also do them at home)

I like to check out Laptop Lunches for lunch ideas. There is a photo gallery of lunches and my kids will pick different items for their lunches and snacks. Here's the link: http://www.laptoplunches.com/LaptopLunchPhotos.html.

Good luck.

Fruit roll-ups *finally* came out with a healthy fruit roll-up that is 100% fruit.

Okay, I know this is titled "Toddlers" - but it really does have all kinds of snacks that big kids can eat too :)

Have her try out some apples or pears with a little bit of almond butter.

There is a recipe for fruit salsa and cinnamon chips... she might try it?

Veggies with hummus.

Hope this helps :)

A frozen yougurt tube or a string cheese would be okay. What about animal crackers (or carrots/celery/apple slices) and peanut butter? We also do the raisens. Will she do frozen (by snack time-thawed out) grapes? Trail mix (sweet and salty)?

does she like salami or cheese - send a few slices of salami and cheese with crackers for making little "cracker sandwiches"

trader joe's fruit/cereal bars (the ones with the funny name "This apple/blueberry/strawberry walks into a bar") - tasty and filling with a glass of water and ingredients list is fairly healthy.

My daughters favorite snack was always peanut butter saltine sandwiches.

She also likes trail mix and nutri-grain bars

My girls like to eat bagels (with nothing on them!) I just stick them in a ziploc.
