So, How Much Screen Time Do YOU Get?

I worked it out for myself, and I need to cut down!

I get up, and the first thing I do is turn on the computer, check my mail, facebook, mamasource, school work 1 hour

When my daughter naps, I play a bit of zuma, then do some schoolwork - 2 hours

Then again after she goes to bed, another 2 hours of school work, check facebook, mail etc

So five hours for me. I don't watch any tv though, and I am doing 12 hours of school online, so I am on that quite a lot, and if I am ebaying stuff, it may be another hour.

What can I do next?

Me too! No tv here either, unless it's DD's dvd time (limited). I do all the things you do, school included, AND job hunting, which is consuming and miserable! I'm always saying to myself, I can't wait to get a job and get off this computer!! Well, that's not the only reason I can't wait to get a job ($$), but sometimes, I feel glued to this thing, in a not so good way :(

I'm on the computer all day at work. I used to get on the second my son was asleep, but then decided that it wasn't that important. I spend all day fbing and mampedia-ing. They can live with out me for a couple hours.
But if I am really bored, I will get on. But I have found projects for me to do, so I'm fine with not being on. :D
So Usually I'm on anywhere from 8-12 hours. FUUUUN . . no.

i sit at a computer 8 1/2 hours aday. There is restricted access here at work and I run across things that I intend to check out at home, You Tube videos, for instance. Bit, I can't bring myself to even log on to my computer at home. I miss mu kids and have way too much to do in the evening. so - 8 hours a day.

Honestly? Our tv is pretty much 'on' all day. How much do we actually WATCH though? Maybe 2 hours for my girls and a few more for hubby and me (we're movie freaks and watch tv series off the computer - NO commercials!). I just like having the background noise and usually keep it on something my kids have no interest in: TLC baby shows or news.

I grew up with the tv on all the time and it's just a comfort now. My mom can't even SLEEP without the tv on. If my dad turns it off after she's asleep, she'll wake up immediately. Hope I don't get that bad!!

My hubby is *bad* for computer time. He's a tech and spends all day at work on the computer. Then he's on frequently after he gets home and on weekdays checking his email, facebook, whatever. But he's really good at dropping it like a hot potato the second one of us needs/wants him for something. I'm more sporatic with my time on-line. I'll check when I'm having my coffee, when the baby's napping and the big girls are playing, etc. But rarely more than 15 minutes or so at a time.

I've been contemplating that one. Usually 1-2 hours in the evening of tv and at least 1-2 hours on the computer... but that time spent bonding with the laptop was also when I had childcare. Now that summer's started and we don't have a caregiver any more, I'm going to cut down to one hour online during the day so Kiddo's got more Mama time.

I watch as much as I want and wish I could watch more of the shows I like but can't have on in case the kiddos come in the room. I wish they would curb them so that they are more family friendly in those ways.

For example, I didn't watch Gray's Anatomy much after the 6 year old came in the room to meander her way to the kitchen and they moved to a scene where the 2 lesbian ladies were showering and kissing. It was obvious the scene was indicating love making and they were nude. It was a bit uncomfortable because I don't think it is appropriate for a child to see those images. Two of my college roomies were gay guys so it's not an issue for me but as far as the kids go, it's a no.

Same for Criminal Minds, love it, love the drama and the catching the bad guy, but geez, they are really going in to much detail and showing so much of the carnage now that I can't watch it with the kids at home.
I love FB and the games. I have it open on my other tab and am hatching for my workers to finish harvesting my FT farms so I can go replant. I think a person should be able to spend as much time as they want doing whatever helps them to distress and enjoy life as long as it does not effect others wellbeing.

This cracks me up because I got a nastygram private message the other day from someone who apparently I rub the wrong way asking me about all the time I spend on here giving advice and my time management skills "with all of the things I claim I'm busy with." I actually don't spend a ton of time here. I keep one window open through the day and come back and forth throughout the day. I type pretty quickly in between other things I have to do. :-)

As for other online activity, I do a lot of job searching and job applications. I also spend time researching issues and literature surrounding Autism and Fibromyalgia since both are so prevalent in my life. I keep my recipe box online. Everything I use that would be on paper is on the computer.

So it's always on, but I'm not always on it. I just go back and forth depending on what I'm doing. The days I'm on a lot are days when the pain from my Fibromyalgia or other health issues keeps me "grounded" in one place. It kind of sucks, actually. I've had a high pain week this week made worse by laundry and washing floors, so today is my lazy day.

early morning check

naptime downtime for me....which is right now

& then again in the evening sometime.

BUT I have an inhome daycare & I leave my Inbox up for emails from parents.

AND then there are times when I'm on....simply because I'm bored & don't want to clean/work on projects/wake the family/etc!

Too much all through the day.. I also keep the News on the TV all day, I am addicted to the news. I have to know what is going on.

My desk is in the main room so I can refresh it or hop on at any moment. We each also have our own computers, so I always have access.

I need a 12 step program..

Depends... sometimes zero, sometimes 12-16

In both cases I'm having a blast. Either I'm out and about doing stuff (with or without my son... we homeschool so it's usually 'with'), and come home, sluice off, and crawl into bed...

Some days my mum has my son for a weekend and I spend 12-16 hours in a day writing or editing photos or marathoning a season of ________.

Those 2 options tend to be my "normal". Under less than normal circumstances (like the past few months when we've had to call a halt to our usual physically active out and about days) 1 or 2 hours in the daytime and 5-6 at night.
