My DD started having weird poops too when she was transitioning to solids... She was VERY regular... like having 2 poops at the same time every day (after her nap and before bed. lol). Then she did get constipated off of the rice cereal, so once we fixed that she started going once a day, definitely thicker and smellier! lol. Now (9 months), she usually has one or two good poops a week, with small ones (about the size of my thumb) every day. Sometimes she will go a day or two with nothing but wet ones... I keep an eye on the texture, and don't really get worried unless she has a hard ball. (I poke it with a q-tip if I can't tell just by looking. lol) The one thing I have done to keep her regular (which has been working so far, she only got really constipated on the rice cereal) is to make sure to feed her some kind of 'poop food' every day.. usually breakfast since certain fruits are more likely to get things moving, and my DD gets fruit and oatmeal at breakfast... pears and prunes are her favorite. (the sad thing is, I bought the prunes doubting she would even touch them, and they are her favorite thing, right after bananas. lol)
