Hello!
My son is 11 months old, he doesn't have teeth on top yet. Yesterday I noticed where his top left tooth would be, it looks like a soar. It doesn't look like a tooth comming in? I don't know if maybe it's a soar from eating crackers or chewing on stuff, or if it's something more serious.
If anyone has any idea what this might be or what to do for it, please let me know.
Thanks!

Not to worry He is probably in active teething mode. Lots of times there is a white dot that resembles a cancor sore or a zit that needs to be picked. sorry for the graphic talk but that is how it is... Unfortunatly this is the most painfull time for the little guys. untill the tooth erupts from the skin it is very painfull for them. Some kids tolerate it well others not so much. Not to worry about the age either. My dentist told me that the longer the teeth stay in before erupting the stronger the teeth will be. good news for you. Don't forget you friend tylenol. it helps the little guys cope. Hope this helps.

Hi J.
I sounds to me like his tooth may be trying to come in. My son would get sores on his gums before the tooth would poke through if it seems like it is bothering him I would give Hylands teething tablets or some tylenol. :)T.

When my son was 10-months old, he too did not have top teeth. We noticed a sore on his gum that almost looked like a purplish-blister. My husband rubbed it (because our boy seemed to really like that feeling) and sure enough, it was a blood blister because a tiny bit of blood was on his finger as it popped. That week, a tooth came through. Try rubbing his gums and seeing if he likes that. Just because it looks like a sore from something else, may not mean it isn't a pesky tooth! Best of luck.

I don't know if this is the same situation or not, but my daughter got her bottom teeth well before her top teeth. Then, we noticed a big (BIG!) blistery swollen thing on her top gum. Not where her front two teeth were to come in, but to the left. Eventually (can't remember how long it took) the swelling went down and a tooth popped out. It was very bizarre. She got her teeth to the right/left of her front two teeth first, then her front teeth followed. That blister thing looks so very sore, but it did go away. Hope that's all you're dealing with!

Sounds like you need to get your little one to see a Pediatric dentist ASAP. Heres a link to find some in your area. Your boys should have quite a few teeth by now on the top row, so somethings up. Get him in and looked at ASAP. Good luck

My kids were all over a year before they even got one tooth. Then they come in 3 or 4 within 2 weeks. One of them did have a sore prior to the tooth coming it. I'd let him chew on something hard and cold and see if that helps the tooth pop thru.

Have you asked his pediatrician? I would take him to your dentist if your ped doesn't know what's wrong. Our dentist said to bring our son in with us to one of our check-ups when he has 4 teeth, but if it doesn't look right, I would have them check it out. I wouldn't think they would charge you for it, especially is your appointment is coming up. Good luck.

I have recently read several things about teeth and homeopaths and how they can fix anything - even grow a new tooth if there is none there. One of the sources was Dr. Mercola www.mercola.com the other was my homeopath here locally.

Give him some frozen peas right out of the bag. My kids all loved them and they are great for teething. They make the gums feel great and help the teeth come in. My kids got a handful every lunch and supper.
Hope this helps,

Mom to 4, soon 5 and hopefully more through more adoptions :o)

Hi J., I would suggest taking your son into see a PEDIATRIC dentist. Even though he has no teeth yet, now is the perfect time to start. The dentist will be able to tell you what's going on and if it has anything to do with his teeth coming in and how to take care of it!

If your sons were premature keep that in mind ... my kids always got there teeth late... 10 / 11 mos. What you are seeing is probably teeth coming down and the gums are getting soar from them trying to work they tooth in. If concerned and your gut tells you that something is wrong... contact a ped. dentist for advice... I would image most would talk over the phone and tell you ehn you should start to be concerned.

My son is 5 months and starting to cut teeth, so I have been doing a lot of reading on this subject. I have read in a couple of sources to not be alarmed if the gums look bluish or sore-like because it is just blood and gum tissue building up before teeth push through. I think it sounds normal, but you might check with your pediatrician just in case. Hope this helps!

I noticed that another poster wrote that your child should have lots of teeth on top implying that something may be wrong. Just to reassure you, my daughter didn't get her FIRST tooth until she was 13 months old. (She was NOT premature.) She's now almost 4 years old and has a full set of normal, healthy teeth.

HI,
I have worked as a Dental aide for nearly 30 years. I would not worry about your babies teeth not in yet. He will get them and may come in several at a time. If you are concerned and are worried, take him to a dentist to be sure they are under the gums. The dentist will need to do an xray, but I feel you should not have to worry. But by 2 years old then I would be concerned.
Good Luck
