My son is 6, he was sent home sick from school on Friday with a headache, stomach ache, congestion, and a fever of 102.4. I took him to the doctor on Friday and he said it was virual and to wait it out. And to give him childrens sudafed D and tylenol and motrin for fever. Sunday now and his fever has not broke completly and he doesnt seem to be getting better. Im thinking about taking him to the ER but not sure if I should.

What can I do next?

Seems a bit soon to take him to the ER, but as mom you are the best judge. If he has been vomitting and not being able to keep fluids down or seems dehydrated, then yes maybe. You said his fever hasn't broken completely...but has it gone down at all? It is really hard to see your child sick.

Does your dr. or hospital have an advice nurse? Mine has one available 24 hours and it is wonderful...they can usually be a good judge if it is time to take to hospital. They can also give you educated advice as what to do. Or is their an urgent care that you can take him to? I'd try talking to a nurse before taking him to the ER.

Be sure to keep him hydrated. He may not want to eat...that is ok, but fluids are important. Let him lay around and do nothing. Virus' do take some time to work through the body...the fever means the body is doing its job.

Sometimes viruses take a long time to kick. I personally don't think that you need to go to the ER from what you described. But if you really think you should and would feel better about it then go.

Viral fever is usualy high, persistent, and lasts 3-5 days. You are on day #3. Wait it out. But watch for other sighns. If fever becomes low grade like around 100 and/or your son becomes weak, short of breath...other symptoms...it means that infection turned bacterial and can be treated with antibiotics...take him to doctor (not to ER, unless you want your kid poked for blood samples and to wait around forever with other sick people where you can pick up infections).
Good luck.

Try to go easy on the tylenol or motrin, it will make the fever last longer, it wont break if it doesnt get the chance to do its work. Put him in a warm bath and gradually cool it with cool water, that will bring down the fever without the chemicals. Keep a cool wash cloth on his head, keep him covered with a light blanket or sheet. Keep him comfortable so he can sleep..... sleep is the healer and the fever will probably break while he's napping.
