Yes I had a preemie and low amnoitic fluid throughout the pregnancy. Said preemie is now a bright and energetic first grader.

Yup...I was induced with my first because of low amniotic fluid. How early are you? I wasn't too early so it really wasn't too big of a deal (other than being induced when my body wasn't ready...but it was what it was...it all turned out fine :).)

My son is now 2. He was frank breach and low fluid. I had a C-section due to the breech. He was born 9 days early. We had no problems due to the low fluids. My first son was also possibly low fluids and they could not get a good reading on him. Born 6 weeks early. But he was one of 3 so.....All are healthy.

I was induced with my daughter because of low fluid, but since then, I have found out that it's not always a great reason for induction by itself. It worked out great for us, to be honest (I was 39 weeks pregnant), but I sometimes wish I had just let things run their course. I think the doc was eager to induce because it was a Friday afternoon, and she didn't know what would happen with the fluid over the weekend (and that was good enough for me at the time....). [My fundal height had dropped a lot, but my daughter hadn't really moved... so, they did an u/s... low fluid, but not extremely low, just low enough that it might get too low over the weekend, basically... but my understanding now is that it doesn't really usually work like that anyway...???]

Anyway, I'm sure that your little guy will be fine. The doctor(s) are making sure he's ready to make his big debut. :) (And I'm sorry I don't have any of the stuff I've read in the 3 years since my daughter was born that says that low fluid isn't the reason to induce that doctors once treated it as.... if I remember, I'll look tomorrow)

Good luck, mama! And congrats!

I'm assuming they want to keep him in you for a week. My sister's water broke and she lost almost all her amniotic fluid at 19 weeks. She delivered at 26.5 weeks and her son, despite some delays, is a happy healthy 11 month old.

My sister in law gave birth 3 weeks early because of this and her daughter is a happy healthy 4 year old.

I do not understand this question.. The baby does not have amniotic fluid, the mother has the fluid.

Did he have respiratory problems once born because of the lack of oxygen? Was he premature?

Did he have a slow heartbeat?

Our daughter was 3 weeks early. I lost almost all of the amniotic fluid during my contractions. Her heartbeat dropped very low and the staff responded immediately. They were able to replace it during my long labor. Once the fluid was replaced it was another 5 hours until she was born.

She was small, but that was just because she was born so early.

My stepdaughter had this problem. Her son was born a few weeks early. Everything turned out fine. A few weeks early is usually not a huge deal either developmentally or in terms of keeping the baby in the hospital. There are so many ways to monitory this that usually there's no crisis at all. Good luck!

My friend's son was born early due to his mother having low fluid. It is good that you are aware and that they are keeping an eye on him.
