My son is 15 months old and refuses to eat meat. He gets protein from milk and yogurt, but does anyone have creative ideas to get him to eat turkey or chicken?

What can I do next?

OMG! That sounds so familiar! LOL! My son wouldn't touch meat until he was close to 2 years old. He still won't really eat chicken, turkey or hamburger. Oddly enough, the only meat we could eventually get him to eat were these pre-marinated/tenderized ribeyes that were served really on the rare side and very juicy. After a few months of only eating that, he started eating some pork tenderloin. Again, it had to be really juicy. (I think we used teriyaki sauce.)

Otherwise, we gave him lots of peanut butter, eggs and soybeans. You can find the soybeans in with the frozen veggies under the name "Edemame" (its also a Japanese appetizer). My kids have a lot of fun eating them. They look like pea pods that you boil for 5 minutes or so. Then the kids pop out the beans and eat them.

Try cooking ground turkey, puree it, and add a little bit to pasta, muffins, anything you can hide it in. It has a very easy to hide taste, so no one can even taste it. My autistic son is VERY picky about texture, so no meat, but he will eat a muffin, or pasta, and he has never noticed. My other kids, and their friends, even other mommies couldn't taste anything different!

This is not that unusual, but does he like ketchup or ranch dressing? Sometimes if you let them dip it in something they like they will try it. You can mix meat in with other foods that he already likes, too.

Good luck!

Our oldest isn't a big meat eater either. We can usually get him to at least eat a little by offering ketchup or bbq sauce with it for dipping.

Not everyone is a meat eater. But if you want him to keep trying, give him a cup of warm chicken, turkey or beef broth. Also, V-8 juice is usally tolerated well by 1 year or sooner.

I used to take baby meats and had a recipe for meat crackers. They both loved them! Seems like that was in a 70's book by Dr. Feingold.

my neice is the same way, she wont eat meat. its not that she doesn't like the taste, she doesn't like the textures of it. she will eat it when she can't feel the texture in her mouth, if its chopped very finely or hidden in something else. this is also an issue with some other foods that have similar textures not just meat, watch for that to see if it a texture issue. also they have said that it takes the average person around 10- 15 times of trying something before they can actually know if they like something ( im not sure if its true or not, i know there is somethings out there im not trying a second time let alone 15!) if you notice the pattern of the textures talk to his dr. it was found (after 7 years of talking to her dr and being told she is just a picky eater) that this is actually a type of eating disorder that she has had since she was born. if you feel its more than pickiness try a second oppinion. hopefully its something simple, but just to let you know that it could be more. good luck!

Sneak meat into his macaroni or other pasta. Hide it in spaghetti sauce. Will he eat eggs? That's another great source of protein. You could make mini omlettes with turkey and cheese inside.
