I am a mom in Wheaton and I have been struggling to find a Sitter/Nanny for my children (5, 8, and 10). I need someone for an hour in the morning then 3.5 hours after school, school holidays and summer vacation. I posted on Sitter City and have had no luck. I have the Wheaton College Baby sitter list but have not had any luck there either. Someone suggested Craigslist, which makes me a little nervous. I have also tried to post at church. Any Ideas???

What can I do next?

I've had luck with Care.com as well. You can also try a homeschooling yahoo group, there are probably some responsible teens with flexible schedules. Do you live in a subdivision? Could you place an ad thru your homeowners association?
Good luck!

I got my current nanny position off of sitter city . I do pretty much what you described although it is usually 2 hours in the morning and then 3 in the afternoon. check your listing again and maybe make sure your offering enough pay to entice someone to take this job. remember whoever you get is tying up the morning and afternoon and driving to you both am / pm I get $10 an hour. Wouldn't even consider it for less and am asking for a raise soon as it is costing me a tank of gas a week now with the extra driving to the kids events. that may be a factor in why you have had no responses.

That's a tough schedule for someone to work. You could try a local mom who wants to earn some extra money - a mom of a child's friend. You could also try posting through your local church for a retired person. Some nanny agencies will suggest hiring someone full time and letting them be a household manager when the kids are at school - do your grocery shopping and organizin for you. Does your school or park district have a before and after school kids club? Hope this helps.

I'd be open to splitting the two jobs up -- the morning and the afternoon may just not work for one person. Good luck. I've always been happy with Sitter city.

I'd contact the career centers at The College of DuPage or Midwestern University. At COD you might be able to post with the Education Dept.
