When did any of you start introducing stage 2 foods. My daughter is eating stage one fruits and veggies. She is eatting apples, peaches, pears, sweet potatoes and carrots. I am starting her on peas tomorrow. But I would like to give her a little more variety like apricots with apples and pears. A differet food with food she has already had of course. Thanks again

What can I do next?

wow you shouldn't even be feeding stage 1 foods yet stage 2. i really think u need to consult the pedatrition cause you start foods too soon A) they get most of nutrition at 4 mnths from breast milk/ formula & b)it can cause stomach upset or greater chance of allergies

All babies are different and as long as you have tried her with all the stage one and she was fine with them, then I say go ahead, just rememeber to stay with the same thing for a few days so you know if it affected her or not, My daugher was around 6 months when we started stage 2.

Don't listen to the people saying it's too soon to be on stage 1, let alone stage 2. I asked my pedi. at my daughter's 4 month check up and she said I could start stage 1 then...she had already been on rice cereal for a month.

If you're already giving some of the stage 1's and there's no problem, I say give her ALL of them, see how she does, then go from there. Basically, conquer one stage before moving onto another, that's what I did and we had absolutely no problems.

There are a lot of people out there who are hyper-vigilant in regards to allergies and food sensitivities, bottom line is go with you're gut. Some people are a little overzealous, just remember that you have already started your daughter on food....it's not like you're gonna go back now! And you shouldn't either. Roll with it, enjoy it, some kids aren't too keen on eating baby food, especially if you wait until after 6 months to start them on it, so enjoy the fact that your daughter isn't one of those kids!

Bottom line: try ALL the stage 1's before moving to stage 2's. Enjoy beautiful Giavanna!

We didnt start stage 2s till 6-8 mos, depending on the child but we would mix stage 1 apples with pears once she had had both and tolerated them well. And even once we added stage 2s we only added ones with a new food 1 at a time, deserts were tricky for us, because some have Milk products and some dont, and even some with Milk in them my children could tolerate even though they all a milk intolerance till after a yr old.

If you have a new food you want her to try before giving her a stage 2, you can always buy the fruit or veggie and puree it and give it to her.....they also have food mills, some are electric others are hand operated and you can make up lots of things with those. http://store.babycenter.com/product/code/8024.do?adcode=C...
This is the one I used with all 3 of my children, and once they were past the stage 1s and started stage 2s I used this more than I bought baby food.

I started my daughter on stage 2s after her 6 month appt after the pedi & I discussed it. I would suggest talking to your pedi to see when you should move up to the next stage foods. At this age formula/breastmilk is still the primary source of nutrition but solids are good too, as long as you don't give too much too fast, know what I mean? You don't want to give your girl something she might have trouble digesting b/c she's still little or anything. I understand how you want to move up but at this point I would talk to your pedi or at least stick with the stage 1s for a month or 2. Good luck & hope that helped! :)
