There is a red ink pen (not sharpie) stain on my tan colored nylon purse. Does anyone know what to do to get this out? The dry cleaners said they couldn't do anything.

What can I do next?

Is it Coach? I have a white Coach that I think the outside is nylon. It is available in a tan, white and black. Super cute but easy to get dirty.

I was told by the Coach store at Stonebriar where I got it that if soap and water did not remove the stain, to use a little alcohol. I was told not to use the Coach cleaner or Scotchguard on it.

I have used the soap and water on a wipee and that has helped keep it pretty clean. There are a couple of dirty spots on the bottom and I have used the alcohol with success.

Just this week is left to use this purse since Labor Day is coming up. I might try the hairspray as well before I clean it up and store it until spring.

Good luck.

Aeresol hair spray usually gets ink out of stuff...like jeans and such. wash it afterwards...if you can't wash it, i wouldn't try it. Or maybe try nail polish remover...something that is not a water based solvent.

Hi A., WD-40 will take the ink off. It might discolor the purse but if you think it's ruined anyway it might be worth a try.
