Stainless Steel Refrigerator - The Villages,FL

I have a stainless steel refrigerator that is approx a year old. It has a water dispenser in the door and tends to leak down the door when used. No matter what I clean the drips/leaks with, they can still be seen. I have used the stainless steel cleaner recommended by the dealer to no avail. I have used vinegar -- no luck in removing these stains. Does anyone have a suggestion. Thank you.

What can I do next?

I use baby wipes to remove all water marks and sticky stuff (I have a 22 month old) on the fridge then follow up with the stainless steel cleaner.

My suggestion isn't about the cleaning, but about the leaking. We were having that problem with ours about a year ago when we had a lot of company in the house, and I assumed it was leaking. It then stopped when the company left. What it turned out to be, as best I can guess, it that someone wasn't pushing the ice dispenser all the way, and the ice was getting stuck halfway and then melting. So you may try to see if that is the problem, especially if you have kids using it.

Also, if it's still covered under warranty, you should have it checked out. There really is no reason it should be leaking. It might be easier to figure out the leaking problem and not have to worry about the cleaning.

Hi P.,

I agree about the baby oil. The reason there are streaks is because there are minerals in the water removing the oils in the finish. Any type of oil would work. I don't keep baby oil in my house so I would reach for the olive oi.

I was having the same issue with our fridge....I just found a solution that I was thrilled about....it's called Lime away. Apparently they were hard water stains. Good luck.

Try a little baby oil - sounds weird, but it has worked on some more minor smudges.

I just found stainless steel wipes at Wal-mart that work really well on our fridge. It does the same thing and makes me crazy lol. They are made by Weiman.

I have this same problem! I used a magic eraser the last time I cleaned it and there were less spots. Although I'm not sure how good it is for the metal.

We use Pledge on our stainless steel appliances. Works great and takes out the water stains.

"Bartender's Friend" is (I think) the name of the prduct that we use. It works well and you can buy it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

P.,
I know you said you've used vinegar, try it this way...
I have really good luck with half vinegar half water in a spray bottle. I let it sit on there for a few min, then I add in a little dish soap and use a gentle bristle brush. For some reason the combo works better on the really tough water marks. One the occasions that this doesn't work, I have Brasso, (similar to Bartender's Friend) and this will always take care of it.
Good luck
