Stinky Preschool Boy Feet

Has anyone one else had this problem? My son’s feet smell.
I understand that everyone is “different”… I personally have never had to use deodorant/antiperspirant... so I get it.
But his little feet smell bigger than him sometimes. Not everyday. He’s a sweaty boy. He’s very active and energetic – He even perspires just as he is falling to sleep (a telltale sign sleep is not far) and sweats lightly during his sleep… always has, from infancy until now (2 months short of 4 years).
He wears good quality, breathable shoes… rotates between on average 3 pairs of shoes a week (so not wearing same shoe day after day) and I wash and dry them regularly.

Any advice, suggestions or insight? It’s not a major problem – but I thought I’d put it out there anyway. It’s very nice to have a community to turn to… and I read the advice on the board often, so I know that a lot of you have great insight to offer.

Thanks in advance.

T.,

One of my kids had the smelliest feet. OMG it was awful. What made matters worse, this was my baby girl.

I was talking one day to a friend of mine who is from Nigeria and he said he had smelly feet as a child. His mother put Epsom Salt in his bath water two - three times a week and no more smelly feet.

To my surprise...it worked!! I did this for about 6 months and to date the smelly feet have not returned and it's been a good 16 years since.

Hope this helps!!

Hi T.,
I like the Epsom idea; much easier. I heard from a friend that she had bad smelly feet and had a Dr tell her to soak her feet in water with tea bags for a little while once/week. It worked. But for kids, the Epsom in the bath sounds great and easy!

My 25 year old has always had stinky feet from about the age of 12. He puts odor-eaters in his shoes and it helps alot.

I have also heard that soaking your feet in tea(cold or hot) really helps. I haven't gotten him to try that but maybe someone else out there has some experience with that.

Good Luck

Hi T. - We always put baking soda in my son's shoes when he was a teen. It absorbs odor and also helps to keep feet dry. Whatever you use, be sure that it is as natural as possible without any chemicals, as the products we use are absorbed into our bodies through the skin. We check now on all personal care products at www.findgreenhere.com. Go to Safe Cosmetics and use link near bottom for cosmetic database. You can put in the brands to search bar and see how their safety rates. Good luck! :o)
