I've noticed within the last 6 months or so my mestrual camps have been incresing in pain and harder to make go away with meds. My last period was short and light, but cramping was still severe. This period is light but the cramping was bad yesterday, today it feels more like I have a huge bowling ball in my pelvis, the inside of the bottom and my hips hurt. I am not on any BC and I am sexually active with my boyfriend. I have not ever had a baby so idk if this is what it feels like to be pregnant or what. As far as I know I am not pregnant. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this or could maybe give me some advice?

Thanks, D.G.

-let me correct myself, I am sexually active with my boyfriend of 3 yrs, I have only been with 1 other person prior to him and was test a year ago. He on the other hand, has never been with anyone else. But yes my 16yr old sister was just diagnosed with endometriosis.. So that is possible, however her symptoms were way more severe.

What can I do next?

You should see an OB/GYN or a midwife. Pregnancy aside (which is an option) you could also have contracted an infection or STD.
If you are not intending to get pregnant also get educated about birth control.
If you do intend to have a baby, even more reason to get checked out, to make sure that you don't have a condition that may impact your fertility.
Anytime you experience unusual pain, unusual periods (over several months) or anything that makes you think something might not be right, you should really get it checked out.
Good luck!

PLEASE call your OB/GYN and have it looked at. None of us are doctors (well, I've yet to see one on this site), and it would require a thorough internal exam to be able to rule out things like ovarian cysts, etc.

Good luck!

I notice that my period symptoms change ALOT when I look at the things i eat and drink all month. THe better i eat and drink, the less pain I get. I also noticed a slight change when I went off the pill when I was 27. My friends who were never on the pill mentioned back in our lower/mid twenties that their period symptoms changed as well ...some worse, some better. You never mentioned how old you were. I do not think it would be endometriosis, but you should be going to the doc (regardless of period pain) for regular check up...especially since there is a history in your family. Just go to the doc for a Pap...you will be happy you did once its over and he can maybe give you better medicaton. I will say that Motrin was the best pain meds for me. (and a hot bath)

You should consult with your OBGYN about getting Mirena (birth control) that's a BC that is good for 5 yrs and you don't get a period. IF you decide to go that route you will have spotting for the first couple of months and the pain wouldn't be as bad. I'm no doctor but, I have Mirena and it's been the best thing for me.

You could have an ovarian cyst, another form of an infection or endometriosis. I strongly urge you to see your doctor or an OB/GYN. I've had these symptoms. Sometimes it's been an ovarian cyst and then later in life it was the endometriosis. With recurring pain, I was also tested to be sure that I did not have ovarian cancer. Uterine fibroids can also cause this pain, as can uterine cancer. You do not want to take that risk. See your doctor!

I would definately have it checked out. I had a biopsy done several years ago to see if I had endometriosis-my mom and sister both have it and the doctor thought I did because of my heavy blood flow and severe cramps, but it turned out that I was just cursed with bad periods. some months are worse than others and it is something I've had to accept, but get it looked at-it could be nothing or it could be something.
