Stopping Hairloss

I have a problem with my hair falling out. It falls out so much in my opinion that I should surely be bald already! It does grow back, so I seem to always have hair of varying lengths, (lovely). I have been checked by a doctor and do not have thyroid, anemia or diabetes. I have used nexxus, pantene and suave in the past and didnt see a difference between any of the brands. I noticed a lot of hairloss years ago and then it suddenly stopped. Now its happening again and I am not sure what to do! I take prenatals that contain biotin (b/c a friend told me this helps with hairloss), and I'm not seeing a difference. I wash my hair every other day and recently cut 4 inches and am thinking of cutting more because I still do nothing but clip it up everyday.
Is there any natural home remedies, vitamins or hair products that can help with this? Its not a certain area, just all over shedding..like a dog really.

I had this problem too. I started using a shampoo that had alcohol in it, and also the conditioner. This made the problem soooo bad. I got a better shampoo and conditioner, without any alcohol, and started using a product by Greenbush, called Healthy Hair. It comes as a concentrated liquid with a dropper. The instructions say to use it twice a day, but I only use it once. about 3 weeks after I started using this supplement, my hair stopped falling out, andits been about 7 months now, and I feel like its getting thicker.

After my son was born, when I was sure I'd be as bald as a cue ball in no time, because my hair was SO falling out, my stylist told me to wash no more than every other day, pull up LOOSELY (no tight ponytails) or not at all, and that long hair just makes the loss more noticeable (visible), but not more prevalent.

Other than that, I doubt anything that makes hair stop falling out FOR SURE would have been anything less than MAJOR headline news!!!

You should see my mom, she has lost a ton of hair and I had begun to lose a lot of hair..Each night at least a dozen hairs sometimes even more.. came out just drying my hair with a towel. and again in the morning when I would wet it.. I was freaking out..

I tried everything.. and then this last year I was given the Aveda "invati" products.
The shampoo the conditioner and the spray for the scalp..

This is no lie.. The first night I told our daughter they must have put glue in the products because only 2 hairs came out!!!! In the morning.. the same thing..

I have now been using it about 8 months and I see the difference..

It will not replace hair that is gone.. but it will help you keep the hair you have.. It is not inexpensive and many times they sell out.. They sold their 12 month projected supply out in 3 MONTHS! So they are manufacturing it as fast as possible.

FYI, I have no ties to the Aveda company in any way, I am just a happy consumer.

Try Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. It really works! It worked for me when my hair was falling out due to Lupus. Noixin comes in different levels for different hair types, so make sure to do some research and get the one for you. I think I used #3 for both the shampoo and conditioner. Good luck!

Sometimes you can prevent/slow hair loss and other times you can't.
Some might be age or hormone (peri-menopause) related.
If the women in your family tend to have thinning hair when they get to a certain age, it might just be genetic.
It's good you had your thyroid checked - that was the first thing I was going to suggest.
I had an episode when my thyroid medication was in short supply a few years ago and while I was off it my hair thinned alarmingly.
It's grown back thick as ever.
To promote quick growing strong hair I take:
1 biotin supplement a day
1 tablespoon black strap molasses a day (hair needs sulfur)
1 tablespoon FOOD GRADE diatomaceus earth mixed with water a day (you can find it on Amazon)(hair needs silica)(a horsetail supplement will work too).

This grows my hair fast - like an inch a month instead of the usual 1/2 inch a month.
BUT it also grows ALL your hair faster - leg hair, under arm hair - you'll be shaving a lot.
Your nails (toe and finger) will also grow quickly, too.

I gave up blow drying my hair (or only use a cold setting), I don't use commercial dyes on it (they were frying it - I use henna to cover my grey), I don't curl or iron it or apply any heat to it, I keep it loosely braided at night and up in African Hair clips during the day.
My hair is about bra strap length and it looks great!

Have you tried Molding hair products? They are for thinning hair and hair loss. They can be purchased at JC Penney salon. Pricey, but heard they really help.

I too, am prone to hair loss. If I go through a stressful event, I will usually notice some excess shedding a few months later. So far, it has always grown back, but I will never have a luxuriant mane of hair. Try to exercise and keep your life as stress-free as possible.

Not sure if anyone else has suggested this since I haven't read any of the responses, but have you been checked out for Alopecia? It is a hair-loss disease, and auto-immune disorder to be exact. It can be anything thing from a small patch to complete and total hair loss. It effects everyone in so many different ways. It can fall out in patches and grow back, all fall out and grow back, or fall out and come back and stay. Are you under any stress by chance? Run it by your Dr., see what they have to say. Best wishes and good luck!

Biotin might work, but watch out for the acne. I used it before and my hair and nails grew, but I had to stop because I got a lot of acne. Exercise and scalp massages might also help you.

Hi! After reading your post - it made me think of my good friend who went through the same thing - i hope you do not have the same ending - but have you looked into Alopecia? Not to be the damper in answers but you never do know - Alopecia is a hair loss 'disease'. My girlfriend had thee most gorgeous long, thick, beautiful hair - after her first was born she experienced some hair loss and it grew back - after her second it went in cycles .... the good thing - it is not life threatening - the bad thing is you can have complete hair loss .... please check into it - i hope and pray it is a temporary thing - i wish you all the best!!
