I will be having my 3rd child & will have 3 under 3. I have a great double jogger but it will not fit in my SUV with the 3rd row up. I have measured triple strollers & they will not fit either. Any suggestions for a compact double stroller with possible detachable sit & stand for my oldest.

What can I do next?

Hey T.,
I have the Peg Perego Aria. It is a side by side double and it is extremely light - this is especially helpful when they get bigger and heavier. My twins were 17 mo old when my son was born. I usually put the baby in a Bjorn or Sling-type carrier - and actually didn't use the stroller much, the twins held my hands and walked. When the baby got to be 6mo or so, he went in an umbrella stroller. My girls are crazy and active, but they learned very quickly how to stay with me, I gave them each a special job as we walked, and that helped. When I did use the double stroller, I often put two in the stroller and the other held on to the push bar and stood on the under carrier. This worked great and I didn't need any additional pieces to keep track of. We just went to the zoo, now my twins are 4 and my son is 3, I took the stroller along and they all sat in it, two in the seats and one in between on the bar that separates the two seats. They loved it and everyone had a ride.

I am not sure how helpful this will be but I wanted to tell you about a double stroller that I love. My neighbor has it. It is a Combi double stroller. It is lightweight, has an over the shoulder strap and folds into itself so it is VERY compact. It fits into my Pacifica with the 3rd row up. I don't know where you would be able to put your oldest, but I figured I would tell you to check them out anyways. I don't know if Combi has a triple stroller but you might look into it. If it is like the double...you might really like it. Good luck.

You don't mention the ages of your kids, so I'm not sure how well this will work for you. I have 3 as well and in a pinch all 3 have been able to get on my Joovy Ultralight Caboose. The front is a regular seat (that will accomodate a carrier), the back is a rear facing bench and standing area that's really meant to be a choice for 1 kid to either sit or stand. My 3 year old twins and 7 year old son have managed to all get in there though. The larger of the twins and the 7 year old do a fair job of sharing that back area. It does get heavy to push that many in it, but if your oldest isn't always going to be riding, or if you can sometimes manage your baby in a sling or carrier, it might be a good option for you. I love how lightweight it is, it folds as small as many single strollers. This is my favorite stroller EVER.

Why not carry the new baby? I've used the Pikkolo by Catbird baby and a Hotsling. Adventure Buggy Company is based out of New Zealand (same owners of Phil & Teds) they make doubles (like Mountain Buggy) with attachments for up to 4 kids http://www.abcbuggy.co.nz/
You will probably have to remove the attachment to put it in your car but I don't think it's a big deal, I do it with my stroller. Valco Baby does the same thing for 3 kids.
