Good evening ladies. Have a stroller question. Will be babysitting my granddaughter starting the end of Sept. She will be almost
four months. I do have a snap carseat for her but will not be taking it out of the car. They are way too heavy. I need to get a
stroller that reclines and works well for an infant. Do not want to spend over $200. Thanks bunches. Back in my day, we had a
choice of one or two not one or two hundred LOL.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. I went out lookking last week. I see everyone has one that they like. Was not thrilled with Graco one I had for my grandson a few years ago. I had an Evenflo one that I paid $35 for a while ago. Let someone borrow out and that was the end. Loved that stroller. I just need to make a decision. Will go back out with your recommendations in mind. Thank you

Do you have a Once Upon a Child near you? Or another children's 2nd hand store? They re-sell quality strollers for great low prices. You can probably pick one up for $20 bucks. http://www.onceuponachild.com/locations/#us

Why not just get one off of craigslist? You can completely clean it up & save lots of money over new, for something that won't be used very much.

Why isn't the baby's mom/dad supplying the stroller? I don't think you should have to buy one.

I have seen the old fashioned looking baby carriages where the baby lays down, but I don’t know the cost of them. Maybe try looking for a gently used one at a thrift store or on craigslist. You can also go to Babies r us and try out different strollers and see what would work best for you.

I had a graco stroller for my baby. It was under $40. You don't need to buy the uber expensive ones for your baby to be happy. It reclined. It sat up. It had a cup and snack holder for the baby. It had a cup holder and tray for the person pushing it. It had a basket under the bottom. So you see.....you don't need to pay alot to get alot.

If you can't find one, look for a snap and go frame instead of the bulky stroller that comes with most travel systems. You can often get them off Freecycle. Ask around, or ask to borrow one til she grows into the regular stroller.

I think there are so many good choices in your price range! You should go into a babiesrus, or other baby mega stores, and try them out to see which one you like the best. They have them displayed so that you can pull them down from the ledge they are sitting on and stroll them around in the aisle (don't feel silly, this is why they have them out!). The only advice I would give is to get a stroller with a sunshade that will not only shield from the sun that is directly above the stroller, but also can move to block the sun directly in the face of the baby during early morning and in the evening. I have a graco, and except for the sunshade, I love it. My best friend has a chicco and the shade is much better.

We have a Graco. Never once have we used an infant car seat in it, we never even bought one, we bought a convertable car seat. It lays completely flat and the seat is adjusted by a pull tab on the back so it can be any incline you want. It isn't very heavy and really takes a beating. We love it!!

Find one at a consignment shop in your area. We've found some great, like-new strollers this way. Children under six months need a stroller that completely reclines flat; Peg Perego makes some good ones with handles that reverse, so you can keep baby out of the sun/looking at you.

I was just kind of curious why you would buy a stroller of your own. Will her parents not bring one with them while you are sitting? Is there a friend or neighbor that you could borrow from?

Make sure to try it before you buy it. Make sure that the handles are the correct height for you. (I am tall, and some strollers are too short, I suspect if you are short you could have the opposite problem.)
Also, If you are going to be walking on sidewalks, then I would suggest something with good wheels - that turns well. We have one stroller that makes my wrists hurt to hit bumps - and another - which is a jogging stroller - that is a dream to push. (It is light weight, and the wheels are well balanced.) Depending on what you plan to do with your granddaughter - either could work well.
If you find one that works well, but is out of your price range - then I highly suggest looking around for some used ones. Even used, the high end ones can be so much easier on your body.
Do take into consideration any issues that you may have (bothersome wrists, ability to lift heavy things, etc.) and the space you have in your car (trunk or backseat..). Some of these things are total monsters - if you plan to take them places they need to fit into your car. If it causes you pain to use it, you will not use it....
(Hopefully that helps, no specifics - just general thoughts. :) )

What are your plans in the stroller? More mall walking or more outside walking? You may want a jogging stroller if you plan to do outside walking. They don't maneuver through malls well so you might want a regular stroller.

I have had an Inglesena swift, a Graco urban lite, a maclaren volo, a Chicco, and a Peg Perago Aria.

My fave is the Maclaren but I did enjoy my Inglesena before I backed my car over it.
