I live in the McKinney area and am looking for someone who does great work with color on dark hair. I have highlights right now, but they turned out caramel colored. I like it, but as soon as my hair grows a little the dark hair sticks out like a sore thumb. I want to enhance my natural color not go so far off base that you can see a major difference. I am desperatly in need of a cut as well.

What can I do next?

I highly, highly recommend Osgood-O'Neil Salon in Dallas. I know it might be a bit of a drive for you, but it would be so worth it. It's a little on the pricey side for color($85-$125) and haircuts start at $45. Skyler is one of the best colorest, she's definitely a personal favorite. I think she's been on the floor for close to 2 years. She has the sweetest personality and listens very well to what YOU want. Every stylist/colorist has to apprentice for a year before they can be on the floor independently. I suggest Peter, Dana, Shara, Solomon are all GREAT stylist. As you may have noticed, no one does cut and color. It's either or.

On a side note, my hair is dark brown with red highlights (tasteful) and I have a problem with having highlights put in my hair without them turning a funky color. Skyler has always done it perfectly. Also, Kerastase products will help keep your color and keep your hair very shiny and healthy. It's the product in a pink bottle. Half the battle is maintaining. I learned that the hard way. I hope this helps you!

in carrollton there is a place, Toni & Guy Academy. dont let that its an academy scare you. i go there all the time and have never been disappointed. their instructors must approve anything that is done on the client before it done. the reason your highlights turn that color is b/c you do have dark hair and its hard to get any lighter. I know it may be a drive for you but i think its worth it. their # 9)###-###-####

K.,
If you are willing to make the drive I was referred by a girl in McKinney who refuses now to go to anyone else. I too now will only go to this girl. She is a color specialist and a rockin stylist! She is amazing and I still get compliments on my hair even 6 weeks after the fact!! Her name is Amy and her studio is Kevin Nicole Salon in the Salon Boutique on Trinity Mills and the Tollway. From McKinney it takes about 15-20 min to get there on Sat morning. Her number is ###-###-####. You will LOVE her!
