Suggestion on Jogger Strollers

I am expecting my first baby in about two months and still trying to decide on the right stroller. I would ultimately love to get a jogger stroller that I can attach the infant car seat to, but also know a good jogger with a seat attachment can be a bit pricey. Because winter will get going shortly after the baby is born, I don't imagine using a stroller much until the spring, but maybe I'm naive. I guess my main questions are: Does anyone have any suggestions/experience with jogger strollers on the bike paths of Lincoln? & Would it be silly to buy just a seat now and wait until spring to get a stroller?

What can I do next?

I highly recommend you get a stroller even though it will be winter. My son was born in December and I used mine all the time. It is hard lugging the infant seat in and out of doctors offices or stores. I even would take him and walk the mall just to get out of the house when it was cold and couldn't do much outside. I can't really recommend a good jogger that would work for infant seats. I actually just bought my first one and went with the Jeep Liberty. I love it so far. Good luck!

Highly recommend waiting on the jogging stroller until after you have the baby and spring comes. I thought I'd buy one jogging stroller and would use it for everything and found I was wrong. Jogging strollers are notoriously heavy to fold and lift in and out of the car. We love our BOB for walks/runs in the neighborhood, but bought a snap and go for use in the winter with the infant seat. It is SO much easier and lighter initially when they're so young. Come spring i do recommend the BOB stroller as long as you're not using it as an everyday in & out of car stroller. Good luck!

My DD was born on Oct 5 and we had ordered the BOB Ironman jogging stroller with carseat attachment and we LOVE it!!! We did use it quite a few times in the fall bc she could be all bundled up in the carseat. I can't recommend this stroller highly enough! It's a little pricey but sooo worth it. I've heard others say they never use their jogger, but we use ours everyday. - actually, if some people don't use theirs, you might have luck finding a used one on craigslist. I never use her umbrella stroller and usually just wear her in a carrier if we go somewhere that's not stroller-friendly.

We have a Graco jogger with a seat attachment and I love it. I'm NOT a jogger; we bought it more for off roading and hiking and beach going--and we have a long gravel driveway. Anyway, it was 200 when we bought it five years ago, but we love it. The front wheel does not turn, but that may have been improved in years past. I don't know if they even make it anymore, but we've gotten great use out of it--it's been in canyons in Arizona, the Pacific Ocean, hiking through the Olympic and the Rocky Mountains, and to Gooseberry Falls, among other places!

We bought the BOB Revolution and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I can't say enough good things about this stroller. I know they make a car seat attachment for it. It is pricey but soooo worth the money. We got the Chicco Keyfit travel system before our daughter was born and so wish we would have saved the $$ and just bought the BOB right away. The Chicco stroller was terrible anywhere except smooth city sidewalks. We do a TON of trail walking and hiking, and the BOB goes EVERYWHERE with us. Good luck, and congrats on the baby!! :)

I loved my Snap and Go while my baby was an infant - it's not a jogging stroller, but it was light and easy, and sturdy. I knew it would be useful as long we used our infant car seat, which for our daughter was a year+. For our Babyhood-through-Toddlerhood stroller, we have a MacLaren. Find it to be well-made, easy to fold up and put in trunk. We later bought a used jogging stroller at Once Upon A Child for about $40. We've had it just under two years now (our daughter is 2 1/2). We use it a LOT for walks to the park and around the bike paths and sidewalks in our neighhorhood - but, we don't take it in the car anywhere, b/c it's too bulky. So, one stroller for all purposes does seem to be elusive. :)

Hello,

I waited to get a jogging stroller and am very sorry that I did. We ended up purchasing a travel system (stroller w/ infant seat) initially and then went with the Schwinn Free Wheeler jogger and I absoluetely love it. It has all the same features as a Bob but only costs around $200 (half the price of a Bob). Plus the Schwinn has a dual front wheel so it can either be stationary for jogging or swivel for walking (sooo nice at the zoo!). I have a couple friends with a Bob jogger and they love it...I just couldn't justify the price. A friend of mine is going with the Safety 1st Acella Sport Travel System Stroller (avail. at Babies R Us)...it is a jogging stroller with infant car seat. She is due in December but I helped her pick it out...it seems very nice for the price (around $170). One word of caution...make sure the wheels on whatever jogger you pick are not plastic (they wear out really fast per some of my friends). Most higher end joggers have wheels similar to a bike's wheels that require air.
Good luck, K.

i will second the bob strollers! we have the "revolution" and say out loud on a weekly basis how much we love it! worth every penny. REI carries them and every so often they have them 20%off! you will use it CONSTANTLY. running, hiking, at the mall, the zoo....it does require and extra piece for the carseat...so i hate that they nickle and dime you, but i promise its worth it! and you'll definatly use it til baby is a toddler! i'd get it right away...u might be surprised! happy hunting! oh i also SERIOUSLY suggest the book "baby bargains" before you register! saved us a ton on EVERYTHING! have fun!

My son was born last year about the same time it sounds like you're due :) We got the babytrend infant carseat with the triangle handle and were given the baby trend jogging stroller for a shower gift. The infant seat worked perfectly in the stroller! I would highly recommend this pair together. I LOVE the stroller and I use it all the time. It's not really bulky either, so it works for mall shopping/walking too. Plus, we used it at the state fair this year and I loved that it just glided through dirt and sand while I watched people with traditional strollers huffung and puffing to push them. My husband often takes our son out with him when he goes jogging. Overall I love this set and it wasn't very expensive. I ordered the carseat through wal-mart.com and had it delivered to the closest store and that was about 80-90 dollars i think. The stroller was ____@____.com worth the money!
Good luck with your new little one, they'll be here before you know it!
