We are a apart of a small group of couples that meet weekly for Bible Study. We are interested in doing one based around the topic of parenting. We are all parents of kids 3 and under and are feeling like some extra guidance would be helpful. Anyone have a great group study that you have done? Any to avoid? Thanks
I recommend going through the book, Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp. It has application questions at the end of each chapter. This is such a great resource for parents. I think you will all be so blessed. It gets to the heart of the issues, not just the outward manifestations.

Hi T.! You have gotten some GREAT answers! My favorite is the book by Tedd Tripp.
You asked if there were any books to avoid and that is why I am responding. I am so very glad that no one suggested this to you! The book is "To Train Up a Child" by the Pearls. Avoid it like the plague. They advocate whipping babies as young as 4 months old for crying in their cribs, training little ones like dogs by putting food in front of them, telling them "NO" and then smacking them if they try to reach for the food, and they also teach to pull a baby's hair if it bites while nursing.
People will say that this book follows Biblical guidelines, but I do not believe this book lines up with scripture or reflects the heart of God.
I hope you find a book that your whole group can benefit from!

Check out www.hearts-at-home.org. It's an online ministry for moms. My group just finished discussing My Heart's at Home. They have tons of books on their website-there is probably one that would be perfect for young families.

I liked the book "For Women Only" by Shaunti Feldman. She writes a "For Parent's Only" book too. Haven't read it, but the Women only book was a very easy read and helped me understand the way that men are hard-wired and what they truly need. Here's the link for Parents Only book http://www.amazon.com/Parents-Only-Getting-Inside-Head/dp...
(Oh and I have also heard that Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tripp is very good. - thanks for that reminder Momofmany.)
