House of Blues downtown is always fun.
So I am new to the area and would love to explore Dallas. I am looking for a place to go after dinner with my husband. Any suggestions for a really cool upscale bar or a place with some fun live music?
Thanks ladies for all the suggestions. So we decided to try Sambuca and we loved it!. I will have try the other ones next time.
House of Blues downtown is always fun.
My husband and I like to people watch so we like Sambuca at The Shops at Legacy. The band that was there the night we went was awesome. There is also Petes Dueling Piano Bar, but I think that is in Addison, and it is nowhere near upscale, but it was a lot of fun. Also, in Allen at Watters Creek, you can go to Cru wine bar for dinner and sit outside and listen to live music.
We love Sambuca too :)
Dallas Arboretum sometimes has evening events with live music. Addison often has outdoor festivals that include Fri or Saturday nights and have live music.
Also, it's not necessarily just date night activity, but Kaboom town in Addison next werek (7/3...not 7/4) has great fireworks. If you want to make it a date night, the bars on Beltline will be packed and crazy starting around 5pm. For a more family friendly event, you can drive down Midway and park somewhere near or south of the Airport.
Look up the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives Website. They have highlighted several restaurants in the D/FW area. I've been to several of the restaurants from Mississippi to California Guy has reviewed and haven't found any that weren't excellent.
Good luck to you and yours.

The Shops of Legacy has Sambuca which can be nice. It used to be Martini Park and a very hot spot.
We used to go to Loft 610 in Frisco just off Parkwood and close to tollway and it is a happening place. They changed the name and I don't remember the new name. If you are on Parkwood heading South from the mall, turn left like you would be getting on the 121 tollroad and it is on the right by the Pancake restaurant.
Hotel Zaza downtown is a nice place to go to but no live music.
Those are all I recall off the top of my head but there are a lot of places to try in the Dallas area.
Addison has a couple of places as well... Memphis is one of them but I wasn't crazy about it last time I went, too crowded and dark
The McKinney Avenue area of Dallas is nice and also uptown area (I forget the cross streets for uptown area)
There are plenty of places, you just have to find a good one for you!!
Have fun!
