Hi K.,

www.campagape.org

Hickory, PA. I myself have attended there 30 years ago. My 18 year old dd went for about 10 years 2 weeks a year and my sons are 8 and 6 and have gone to daycamp for several years now with a one night sleepover.
My little guys on slide number 5, 6 and 7 in the photo album slides on the left. (Proud Mommy Grin)

It is an awesome nurturing environment.

We travel from Monroeville, PA to Hickory to send them and we have a YMCA 2 miles from home.

Good luck.

My son attended 2 Vacation Bible Schools last summer and really enjoyed them. O. was at Windover Hills in South Park and the other was at John McMillan Presbyterian in Bethel Park. Both were every morning for a week. Not sure if this is the type of thing you're looking for but lots of the local churches have VBS weeks in the summer and they are inexpensive, fun educational! Good luck!

My 5 year old goes to Christ United Methodist Church and I can not tell you how happy we are with him being there. The teachers are very compassionate about the children and helping them through there problems. I moved my 5 year old over there in September. He has/had "anger" issues where he would throw tantrums if something did not go his way. We saw an instant change in his behavior and he never has tantrums anymore.

My 8 year old will be going there for summer camp and I can't wait. I highly recommend CUMC!

Christ United Methodist Church near Village Square Mall (Highland Road) has a summer camp for kids. I don't have a lot of info about it as I only just called to get on their mailing list. I believe it is for 2 year olds through children who just finished first grade. It is 5-7 weeks - you can choose which weeks you want to sign up for. Each week has a theme. Here is the link to their website. http://www.christumc.net/

Special camps for this summer include a Music/Cooking camp and "Join the Parade" camp with focus on music from different countries.

I know this is over 5 years old, but it is still showing up in the search engines, so I'll put my 2 cents in! Dynamic Martial Arts Pittsburgh over in Pleasant Hills, PA 15236 (15 minutes from Finleyville) has a week long summer camp called Kinder Karate camp, and it is broken down into ages 3-4 and 5-6. (They have classes for older kids, too). The Kinder Karate classes teach basic balance, coordination, focus and social skills in a martial arts setting, specially designed for those age groups. The camps are usually the end of June, and more info can be found at http://www.dynamicmartialartspa.com/SocialSite/summer-camp
