Summer Swim Classes for a Baby

Hello! My son will be 9 months old in June and I am looking for a place we can take Mom/Baby swim classes. I am a teacher so I have the summer off and am pretty flexible on times/days. However, I would prefer a class near Bloomington/Edina and one that focuses on babies and not older kids, since my little guy will be under a year old. Ideas?

What can I do next?

Wise Swim School is in Apple Valley so maybe a bit far but they have great baby/parent classes and limit them to five with each instructor. Their summer registration just began - www.wiseswimschool.com

Hi, I am a mother of a college age son and a high school daughter. I am also the coordinator for Waterbabies a program designed for babies of all abilities at Courage Center in Golden Valley. We have a great warm water program that parents really love! Check us out.

We've used Foss Swim School http://www.fossswimschool.com/sitepages/pid23.php and were really happy with their programs. The water is nice and warm and they do a nice job just helping the little ones learn to love the water!

YMCA, Bloomington and Edina both have public outdoor swimming pools and do lessons early in the morning before they open to the public. Cascade Bay in Eagan is a outdoor waterpark and they have a babyclass in the mornings too.

We're starting Sea Lions (Parent/Child Water adjustment) this Saturday which is for children 6 mos - 3 yrs who can take 3 steps independently on land. Sea Turtle is for those who aren't walking and Seahorse is for those who can walk and blow bubbles in water. Session 3 started today, but you could still register this week if space is avail. Members fee is $25. I'm not sure what the non-members fee is. The Southdale YMCA is located at 7355 York Avenue South, Edina. Good Luck!
