I know its a little early, but I like to think ahead and prepare. I am looking for somewhere to take my girls this summer. They will be 6 and 3. We like to camp and driving isn't a problem. I want to take them somewhere family friendly and kid oreiented but easy for a single mom of two to navigate and afford. The past couple of years we have been to Mt Rushmore and Yellow Stone, both great places and lots of fun. I would love to go back to either but I'm looking for new ideas too. Any one have any suggestions in the utah area?

What can I do next?

My fiance and I went to Zion last April and loved it. We took a lot of pictures and now my 2 boys want to go there. As long as the kids enjoy National Parks I highly recommend Zion National Park.

We love Pineview up Ogden canyon. There are a couple great campgrounds up there nd the sand and water are so fun for the kids to play all day. There are even shady parts of the beach. I love bear lake too and you could camp there. Both are close and very family/kid friendly, especially if you are the only adult. both are economical.

You could hit Zion's National park, Canyonlands, etc. But if you don't want to drive super far, you could go to Logan in the summer and camp up Logan Canyon. The sites are fairly inexpensive and it's close to Bear Lake, there is also First Dam right at the mouth of the canyon where people like to bridge/cliff jump. They also have summerfest and Heritage Farm. You can get into Heritage farm and do their tours, there are a ton of activities during that and it's all educational about trappers, traders, early settlers, indians, etc. I think they also have a petting zoo and stuff like that in there. There are also plenty of hiking places in Logan canyon, eg, The Windcaves or Crimson Trail (to name only a couple). There are a lot of places to mt. bike and ATV. Good luck! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Three places our family have enjoyed: Arches National park,
Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado- (Estes National Park)
Mount Rushmore. We also loved the southwest, and the Grand Canyon .We have found national and state parks are great places to camp and have many different activities. Many of the activities are geared for different age groups. We also found when we camped that we meet many wonderful people.
If you decide to travel to the east coast there are also many other spots there.
You might also think about a local spot and visit a children's museum, zoo and do a number of day activities.
Good luck, and have a great vacation

We love Moab. (Arches and Canyonlands)
Zion is great too. I havn't been to Brice yet, but it is high on my list.
We also enjoyed the Sawtooth moutains in Idaho, and there some great hotsprings to play in there too.
