Hi A., just saw your post -- I'm in the same dilemma. I also cracked up that you made almost the identical "teenager" reference to your daughter that I did in my post.

I am going to check out R 'Club today, I've heard positive things about them. A lot of people have told me to check out the boys and girls club -- their rates are much more competitive. What I'm having a hard time finding are those 2-3 week long summer camps. I need care all day, but I'd like to divide up her summer if possible. Let me know if you have any luck!

I know that the Calusa Nature Center has day camps all summer. Check into that=)

While hard to get into, you might want to look into the County Dept. of Parks & Recreation summer camp. I came upon it by chance, just reading the newspaper. It is FREE (though the really should charge something with all the cutbacks & all). I'm not sure how you get in as a regular because then I think you are automatically in for the summer. They do have a lottery system for their summer camp and there are lots who apply (probably depending on which area). I was lucky enough to have my son selected in the lottery. They just meet at a county rec. center. They do have daily activities & field trips, some which are free, others, which you pay for but you can decide what you want your child to do that week (for example: majic show, bowling, ice skating, etc.) They even offered swimming lessons over 2 weeks through the county and that was free too! Anyway, it's worth looking into, if you can secure a spot. I'm not sure what the age limit is...I think they have to be going into first grade after the summer.
