Hey, all! I know this has been discussed a bunch on here, but unfortunately I don't have time at the moment to got through all of the search results. I am 32 weeks pregnant, and the family decided to take a trip to Branson/Silver Dollar City over the weekend. I know I over did it with the walking, but I made sure I got my usual amount of water in, plus some, and I was very careful of my salt intake. However, my feet now look like sausages! Any tried and true ways to get the swelling down? After getting home yesterday, and putting everything away, I laid down for about 4 hours with my feet propped up above my heart level, but that really didn't seem to help much. Any other ideas I could try? TIA

What can I do next?

With my second this happened to me a lot. She was born in the summer when it was hot & no matter what I did, my feet were swollen. I propped them like you did & it seemed to help some. My doc suggested support hose but that was super hot in July! For me, some of my pregnancies I was prone to water retention and my others I was not. Hope you feel better soon!

Pineapple juice. It won't work right away (it takes about a week to really kick in), but pineapple juice is a natural anti-inflammatory. Just drink a can every day, and it'll help keep any future swelling from being quite as bad. Plus, if you get some with vitamin C, you can drink it with those iron supplements it seems everyone inevitably needs.

You can also drink tart cherry juice, if you prefer - it works quicker, but it's harder to find than pineapple.

Congratulations!

I was horribly swollen when pregnant with twins. I had a maternity massage and was thrilled to see my ankle bones again! For me it didn't last long but perhaps it would work for you since the swelling is hopefully temporary.
They had a table with a hole cut out for my belly. It was the first time I had layed on my stomach for so long too. It was amazing!!!!!!!

I've seen my doctor for this. I was told that as long as the swelling is just the feet and ankles that it's fine. It's when you have swelling in the face and upper body that you have cause for concern.

After walking for a long period I would also see that my hands would swell some from swinging my arms. I would say call your doctor just to be safe but, from what I was told you should be just fine. It may take a few days for them to return to normal. I am right about where your at in pregnancy and I get swelling all of the time. I have a very busy schedule so I can't stay off my feet/ prop them up until the late evening.

Hope they get back to normal soon, good luck & take care.

Mine swelled so bad last week, it felt like it took 2 days for them to get back to normal and I swear they "jiggled" with every step i took (at least that is what they felt like). I did very limited amount of stuff, stayed on the couch with my feet propped up and drank tons of waters, as much as possible. Also... I slept on the couch at night so I could stay on my left side (which is suppose to help circulation). Hang in there - you're almost there :)
