Swiffer Bissell Steam Mop?

I have a Shark Steam Mop, but unlike the poster below, mine has both a steam only option or a steam and clean (has a cleaning solution that you spray while you mop). I love it!

I personally do NOT like tile floors - just for that reason - and white to boot!! URGH!! White shows EVERY speck of dirt.

We have hardwoods. I have contemplated a steam mop but have not taken the leap yet. I have a friend who owns the Shark Steam Mop - I believe - and loves it...

I would see what the warranty is on it. Contact Swiffer and ask them - "WHAT IF"??? I know I bought a vacuum cleaner - a small around the house one - from Target about 5 years ago - used it for a week and HATED it...cord too short...not enough pick up and SUPER LOUD...I took it back and they accepted it - FULL PRICE REFUND...

We have both a Shark vacuum and a Shark Steam Mop...we got them both in the last 6 months or so. The mop went on crazy sale just before Christmas and our old vacuum finally died right after Christmas. We love them both.

The mop is SO easy to use, heck my kids even love to use it!

The vacuum is also awesome - is the rotator lift away or something. I can take it apart easily so I can do the stairs without dragging a big machine. However, it's also only 12 pounds when it's all together.

Either way, we love Shark products. They are the Hyundai version of the Dyson :). They both work really well, just depends on how much you want to spend.

For what it's worth, we use the steam mop on hardwood floors.

I have neither of these, but I've read and heard great things about the Shark steam mop and vacuum is awesome. So you might check out the reviews on that.

I have discovered that I have the "old" Shark Steam mop thanks to Gamma G's post, but I'm not thrilled with the mop. Like Hell on Heels below states, you cannot add any cleaning products or risk permanently ruining the mop.

Here are my gripes: I don't like the fact that if you tilt it a certain way, water spills all over your floor. When I'd press for the steam stream for sticky spots, it seemed as if I'd go through all the water without even cleaning half of my condo, so refilling was continuous. To make matters worse, the mop head is big and bulky and cannot easily fit into tight corners, and the water tank is bulky, so sticking the mop under a dresser, shelf, or the bed to clean, is impossible. When I finished using the pad and threw it in the washer, it came out looking black. I washed it multiple times, same story. I can no longer tell if it's clean or dirty or how much I am cleaning if no matter what, the pad stays black. Also, the pad itself will no longer stick, it's as if the velcro wore off in the wash (even though you're told to machine wash the pad!), and it keeps coming off.

I have thrown the Shark mop into a closet and just use a traditional stringy mop from the dollar store with Pine Sol. I like the clean smell and feel more at ease when I see the mop turns white after rinsing, and does not stay black like in the case of the steam mop pad. If worse comes to worse, it's a $1 mop, so I can just buy a new one without a problem.

Sorry, I am just not sold on the cleaning merits of plain water. If I knew it were safe to add lemon juice or vinegar in the steam mop, I might feel more confident about its sanitizing properties and might consider using it, though navigating under furniture and in tight corners would still be a bit of a challenge...

I have a Shark Steam Mop. It's pretty good! The one thing I don't like is that it only uses steam. There's no way to add soap/cleaning solution. (To me, it doesn't smell clean unless it smells like Pine Sol! ;). Recently I went on the Consumer Reports website to see what they recommended, and they said the Hoover Steam Mop was the best one in terms of longevity, and also it has 2 tanks, so you can add a cleaning solution in one (or just use it with plain steam, if you prefer). So when my Shark steam mop dies, I'll go get one of the Hoover ones.

With Tile I think any steam cleaner will do fine. I'd get rid of the Swiffer though. It doesn't really mop and clean the floor as you've found out. Sort of surprised you haven't already gotten a real mop or something that actually cleans.

I have 2 different Shark steam mops. I like the older one so much better than the new one. To me I could push harder and "scrub" the sticky spots a bit more.

For instance, with the old mop, we got a new dryer. When hubby moved the old dryer out, the men had pulled up in the driveway with the new one...there was a large mess right under the front edge where I'd pushed stuff when mopping with the old string mop. It was super sticky and hard.

I swept the area quickly. Couldn't get the mess up. So I plugged the old Shark steam mop in. As it heated up I could hear the guys starting to move the new dryer off the loading ramp on the delivery truck. I didn't have much time, maybe moments.

So I quickly started steaming the mess and pushing the mop back and forth. It was coming up quite well. I heard them coming up the steps to the deck and pushed down on the mop. Each push forward primes the mop to steam more.

By the time the guys came into my house the area under the old dryer was clean, sparkling clean. I love that old Shark mop. The new one is a pad that slips over an open piece. I like the one where you put a pad onto the bottom of the mop. You can push it down more and get more steam.

The new one is adequate, just not as powerful as the old one. It cleans the floor normally and I have no issues. I just remember how easy this one was.

This is the new mop, it's still good, just not my style. Most like the new one a lot better due to the different shapes it can use and the mop covers are good too. Steam pockets...the form the pockets go over come in several shapes. For corners, for carpet, and at least one more shape.

wish you lived nearby, I'd give you my shark steam mop! I HATE it - it works well and all, but I cannot STAND to be hot and I roasted the one and only time I used it. it's been hanging up in the laundry room for about 5 years now :(

I have a Haan vacuum and steamer in one. It works great! You do both at the same time. It comes with micro fiber pad that you wash in the washing machine. My only complaint is that I can't get it all the way in the corners. I think I bought it on Amazon or Overstock for about $150. I have had it for 3 years with no issues. I did just replace the pads as the old ones were getting worn out.
