Just curious of others thoughts on swim classes for toddlers. Do you think they should wait till there older or not? Does anyone have any good or bad experiences if there child took lessons or "water play" say from ages 6 months to 3 yrs.

Hello Melissa,
I think it is a very good idea. Both of my kids did swimming lessons when they were a baby you can start them out as soon as 6 months. I would look into the I.R.S. which stands for (infant swimming resource). These kind of swim lessons teach them how to survive if they fall in the water. There web site is www.infantswim.com they did a wonderful job with my two kids. Now my kids swim like fish. Good luck and Gob bless.

My daughter takes swim lessons at Miller Swim School and she loves it. I don't think you can start them early enough, or take too many classes. My parents have a pool and I want her to be prepared at an early age for it. They teach them basics, like starting to wade and float. Miller is a great swim school and they teach them with songs so they learn them faster!

I grew up in california and My mom had me in swim lessons by the time I could walk because our next door neighbors had a pool I can not remeber a time that I haven't know to swim and I think the earlier that you can get a little one in the water the better. my son (who is now two) loved his bath times when he was little bitty and his first summer he was just about 6 months and I took him down to the pool almost everyday by the end of the summer he was trying to kick while lying on his stomach(with me holding him up) and he really loves the water now

I put my son in swim classes at 6mths and 2yrs. He loves the water thought and had a ball. I think it depends on your child. If they like water definitly a good idea, but if their afraid of it. you might want to wait till their a little older. Hope this helps.
