Hi, I am moving to Eagan I am looking for swim classes for my 18 month old son. He has been going to swim lessons at Lifetime fitness till now, but I am no longer a member there. I am looking for a basic swim class nothing fancy. Important for us:
1. indoor swim pool with warm water
2. good and clean facility
3. good instructor
Anybody going to YMCA?

What can I do next?

Hands down!!!!! Family Swim School!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ty was awesome along with every other teacher. They have a school off of Yankee Doodle and also one in Lakeville. We liked the Eagan school best!

I am not from the area, but look online to the town recreational center's web site, they should have there catalog of classes on there and a phone # so you can ask them questions.

Wise Swim School in Apple Valley is wonderful.

My daughter started swimming at the Eagan YMCA at 6 months because she attended their Child Care from 3 mos until Kindergarten. She's had swimming lessons there ever since. She's 8 now and a very competent swimmer and she's always enjoyed swimming at the Eagan YMCA. The kid's pool is kept very warm and the instructors are friendly and competent.

We've liked the classes both at Wise Swim school (more $ but warm water and clean changing areas) and at BlackHawk MS through district 196 (cheaper, colder pool and the changing rooms are not as nice). In both cases the instructors have been great.

Foss Swim School. Not cheap but worth it.

I used to use Lifetime Eagan too - lap pool was way too cold!

Anyhow, we use the community ed 191 program. There are a few different pools to choose from. I coach in the area and asked my Eagan/Burnsville moms and they all said that Metcalf had the best pool - super warm, and the best instructors. Our last session was awesome from both teacher and pool perspective (and priced much better than some other options).
You can register and get information on the Burnsville Eagan Savage Community Ed website if you don't get the catalogs that just came out.

We'll be there again this fall! Good luck!

We live in Eagan but close to Inver Grove Heights. I have used Family Swim school in Eagan and most recently Inver Grove Heights Community Center (Veterans Center). They have the play area that is my sons treat after lessons are over :)

I second the Family Swim School in Eagan. It isn't cheap, but it meets all of your requirements. The water at the Y can be a little chilly for the younger ones. Many people start at the Family Swim School and then transition to the Y when their kids are a little older. That was my original plan, but I liked the Family Swim School so much I just stuck with them. Their schedules were also more compatible with mine. I love the Eagan Y--I am a member and go there all of the time, but for swim lessons I had a preference for Family Swim School. You can always check out both facilities before you make a decision.
