I recommend Southdale YMCA. We did classes there at about age 2 and it was a good experience. They have a co-ed family changing room. ###-###-####

Can anyone recommend places near SW Mpls for swim lessons for a 2 year old? I've tried Foss Swim School, but am having a terrible time with their customer service and trying to get in a class.

I would check the Minneapolis Community Education for classes. We have taken classes through St. Louis Park and were happy with them and they are about 1/4 of the cost of Foss.

I am taking my son to New Brighton for swim classes. Not sure if that's near you. We go to Highview pool on Saturday's and have no problem getting in. Instructors are very good.
I live in Brooklyn Center and I get a newsletter with classes offered at the community center. I signed up to take a tot & parent class with my 2-year old starting June 13th. Maybe check into the community center near you. The classes are $38 for 9 lessons. I hope that helps.
Try the Learn to swim program thru the U of M .
We are members at our local YMCA and 7 weeks of swim lessons for members in only $10 for non member's is $60 I believe. My daughter started out the biggest chicken and scardy cat and after one year is being a show off, and proudly swimming with no assistance. Every ymca has a little different programs but generally they start swim lessons from babies to adults I believe. I've never had a hard time getting my daughter in. Our local ymca has lessons M-T evenings and Saturday mornings.
It would be quite a ride, but the Wise Swim School in Apple Valley is fantastic. I have been taking my two year old there for a year and have been really impressed with their instructors.
The Minneapolis Parks and Rec department offers Red Cross lessons during the summer at various locations. You might also want to look into the YMCA - there are probably several branches that offer lessons within a reasonable driving distance.
