Trying to get an idea of what all you moms think about this vaccine when it becomes available. I am considering giving it to my daughter I understand it is a 2 series vaccine but testing is just now going on. Has anyone heard about any side effects in the children's trial as of yet? My husband is thinking we shouldn't do it, just wondering what all of you think. Thanks in advance for any & all input.

What can I do next?

It is not going to be available until October. On the news a doctor said he wouldn't give it to his child because we don't know enough about it. By the time it is available we should know more so I wouldn't worry about it until then. Our pediatrician is giving out the regular flu shots in October so I would schedule an appointment for that and then see how you feel about the H1N1 shot at that time.

I did a Google search on the vaccine and got conflicting reports on it. I will say that my husband and I are very concerned about how this vaccine was rushed through development and we're not confident that enough time was allowed for testing and looking into side effects. With the reports that are already out there that link vaccines with autism, I am very cautious about this one. We will have our children get the normal flu vaccine, but we most likely won't get the swine flu vaccine this year.

I don't have any info on the vaccine itself, but I do have an opinion on getting it... my cousin (a healthy 30 year old mom of 2) went to the ER just yesterday after being miserable and having a 103+ degree fever for 5 days. Turns out to be swine flu. I sure wouldn't want to go through that myself, nor have to deal with my child going through that. Vaccines are typically safe for more than 99% of the population. So I'm personally going to take my chances with the vaccine for myself and my children to avoid the risk of us all getting sick.

Fox news just had a segment on this morning on the vaccine for children today. So far NO negative effects either on adults or children however the are still trying to figure out the amount to give children. I have called our peds doctor and a few other doctors in my area and they ALL have said that they do NOT believe that they will be getting the vaccine because there are already before the drug is even available huge shortages. I spoke to someone at the Illinois Department of Health and the woman basically said yes there will be shortages and looks like what they do have will be available more so for government clinics and inner city schools for those who are on Medicate. Very scary since the schools are sending home letters highly recommending that you get your children vaccinated but yet the vaccination won't be available to us.

Testing is incomplete, dosage is not yet determined and side effects (ranging from minimal discomfort to adverse reaction) and unknown. It does have additives in the ingredient list, the effects of which are also unstudied. Do your own, independent research. Be a wise consumer.

K.,
Go to Dr. Tenpenny's website. You will have no doubts about what will be the safest thing to do...
I will certainly not allow anyone to inject my precious child with something that has not been studied enough, and which contains mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, etc...

It has not yet been tested on humans. It does contain Thermasol ( mercury).
