Swingsets

We are looking for an outdoor swingset for our daughter who is turning 2 in early October. I had planned to get a Stage 2 swingset, but I am wondering if it's worth it since she might only use it for one year or really just next summer since this one is almost over. She does pretty good with the large swing sets, but she is little and totally fearless, so those scare me and are more hands on for me. I am wondering if I should just go for the big set and plan to be there with her next year until she can do it more on her own or get the toddler set for basically just one year but will be something she can do on her own? Also, we will have another one someday so that baby could use this set as well. Also, I will take any tips on finding deals for either of the sets we decide to go with - I just started looking around, and these things are expensive!

Thanks,
K.

The Rainbow system playsets are great. They are pricey but they have lots of options that will accomadate a two year old.We bought one for our boys when they were 3 1/2 and 10 months. They are now teenagers and the playset is still in our yard!

Hi K.,

See below link.

Best, Best swing set for the money. It's looks very attractive/grandor than others in this price range.

Worth every penny!!!!!

Great for little ones too.

FYI, You can also find these in stores to avoid the costly shipping rates.

We bought the step 2 set on ebay four years ago. We got a great deal. They stay in great condition - the Ste 2 ones seem to hold up to fading a bit better. They even have the plastic spray paint now, so if you want to freshen it up you can. We actually sold it this year on Craigslist for a profit, and then bought a wooden set.

We bought a rainbow swingset for my son's first birthday as it is in the spring. My neighbors critized me for getting it with him so young, but by 18 months he was going down the slide and climbing the rock wall by himself (with a spotter :) ). All kids mature and grow at different rates, but I think it was worth the money. Whether you go for something like a rainbow or a bigger one from somewhere else just look at the options. The one we choose came standard with a rock wall and net like thing....those were the only ways to get up to the slide. My husband opted for the bar stairs and regular stairs instead of the net. I am so glad he did! The stairs were wonderful because by 2 he was using them to go to the slide by himself. I also bought a baby swing from Target that strapped him in safely and he actually still uses it at 3 (hes a little guy)! I guess my point is I would get the bigger one but research styles so it can be used now through bigger kid days! You'll quickly grow out of the step 2 in my opinion and end up spending more money in the long run if you end up purchasing both!

they are expensive! we got the costco large wooden set and we love it. i was in the same situation with a little one who it was the same age as yours and it was too big for her to do anything unsupervised last summer. she loved it but i needed to do everything with her. now the following summer she turned two in july and she can do everything by herself. we have an older daughter too so we didn't have to decide between getting a small one but they change so fast that i'd say your better off getting the real one that will last for years. it has been a great investment! good luck. maybe now at the end of the season they'd be cheaper?? i would aslo pay for the people to install it. we did on the reccomendation of a frustrated neighbor who tried to do it himself then called them half way through. it was a great idea.

We got a Rainbow Playset for our twins. It is more expensive but worth it because it is made rock solid.Even adults can use it with no movement. They come and install it also. It takes three hours.Your husband will thank you :)There are showrooms to go and try them out (indoor). the kids had a ball :) It's worth it in the long run because most Trus ones will need to be replaced after a few years because they aren't very strong. Good Luck!

We got a Little Tykes one that has a fort like on the top and 2 swings, a slide and a rope climbing wall. It was awesome until the kids were about 6 and got just too big. We didn't want a bigger one just because it was too high. The girls used it in all seasons including sliding in the snow. At age 6 we got the big one swing set from Sam's Club.
