Don't wait for answers from a group of people who cannot see what this is. If he has a bruising bump on his head, and he did not hit his head, it needs to be examined by a doctor!
My husband has this ball on the side of his heal. He said he did not hit it and it just stared hurting about 4 hours of ago. I cant see any puncture wounds. It seams to be bruising a little.. Has anyone had this before or what this could be?
Thanks for your help!

As a cancer survivor i urge you to have it checked out. I had a bump on my neck that everyone thought was nothing, then was diagnosed with cancer. Please see your doctor the only thing you have to lose is a little bit of your time if it turns out to be nothing.
In february I had a simular issue. It was saturday night and I noticed that my foot was feeling a little weird in my tennis shoes. When I got home, my ankle was swollen out over my shoe. I could not remember hurting it at all and then it started turning black under the ankle around the heal. For days I could not for the life of me figure out what had happened. Then I vaguely remembered hitting my ankle on the leg of a chair the friday before and I remember it hurting really bad but someone was talking to me and i was trying to concentrate on the conversation more than the pain. I guess this is why I forgot about it.
Is it like a spider bite? If he develops a fever, or if it becomes an open sore (or if more inflamed areas appear) have him get checked immediately for a staph infection.. Often MRSA get dismissed as spider bites... and then its 10x harder to get over!
Of course, it could also just be an inflamed reaction to a mosquito bite-?!
Here are some links... Good luck!

So here's a resource for you: If you have a strange looking red spot on your skin, that may itch or may hurt or ache, or even burns -- take a look at some of these photos.

"What started as red bump on the back of her leg quickly turned into widespread open sores on her legs and trunk. She went to her doctor and got some antibiotics. But her fever and her sores persisted, and she had to go to the ER... And, like so many people, she said, 'I still have no idea how I caught it.'"

"Bottom line: Any 'spider bite', large pimple or boil is MRSA until proven otherwise."
NEVER WAIT ON A HEAD ABNORMALITY. DOCTOR NOW!!!

My daughter had something like this when she was 5 on the side of her neck. Doctors did all kinds of tests on it, but it faded before they made any decisions. It was a cyst that had always and still is been there. She had fallen, and it became inflamed, building up water (Cystic Hydroma) It looked like a flesh colored egg sitting on her shoulder. We could have had the cyst removed, after teh swelling went down, but it extends far down into her shoulder from her neck, and would have been very invasive, and she will likely not have any more problems from it.
Ice may help it to slow or reduce swelling, but he does need to be seen by a doctor. Sometime, they might be able to reduce the swelling by withdrawing some fluid, or som eanti-inflamatories.
I get a sore red spot on the inside of my heel at this time of year often. I haven't in the past two, but had a mysterious spot that hurt for about a week and was hot to the touch. I was told it might be gout but that was the only information I could get. It hurt, but was never bad enough to go to a doctor and went away after a week or less. Don't know if this helps, but I would watch it and go to the doctor if it gets too bad. Gout is nothing to be messed around with.
Get him to a doctor right away, and ask them to scan it. Maybe it's a (spider) bite. Maybe the bruising is from the alternating weight on his foot. Sometimes there is a build-up of calcium (spur) that can cause terrible pain. Cancer can also rear its ugly head in a number of ways through the lymphatic system.
Get him to the doctor TODAY!!!
Even if you can't see it, more than likely it is a spider bite!
It could be an infection such as staph. I would have it checked out soon.
