H.,

My daughter has eczema on her scalp occasionally, so we use a tea tree extract shampoo. I haven't ever used just the straight tea tree oil. You can get the shampoo at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. It's really been helpful for her scalp and hair.

Hello,
I'm an herbalist and unsure what your purpose is in using this. Tea tree oil is anti bacterial. It sounds as if you are trying to find something for dry hair. Please give me more information. I am also a hairdresser. Thanks, L.

I've always heard it used as more of an antibacterial. And I believe it is an astringent, which would be the opposite of what you're trying to do.

Hi H.. Most of the products in my home have tea tree oil in them and I am not sure that using it in its pure form is the best way to go. It is an antiseptic and great for minor cuts and skin irritations, but it is also a natural disinfectant and is non-caustic. I think a more natural shampoo and conditioner might help and not washing it everyday. Hope this helps.

Hi H.
Although tea tree oil is safe to use everyday,it will not moisturize her hair.As someone else posted,it is great for lice, they hate it.Among so many other uses, just be careful to get a high quality grade.

Hi H.,
Tea Tree oil might be a bit strong for a baby or young child. They are very concentrated chemical constituents of the plant. The amount of drops you use depends on the age and weight of the child. Generally 1 or 2 drops of one oil is best. Organic oils are the best if you can get them. Very gentle oils such as Roman or German Chamomile, Lavender,or Sandalwood. Books by Valerie Worwood, Shirley Price and Maggie Tisserand all have information about how to use EOs with babies and children. A website to buy oils is Aromatherapist USA. Have you considered that the dry hair might be a result of what you are feeding your child? The condition of our hair reflects nutritional status of our bodies. Hope this helps.

I have this lotion with tea tree oil in it and I love it. I use it for rough feet, razor burn or any other irritation. I went to a home demonstration party years ago and the company used tto in many of their products. They had shampoos, lotions, cleaning products, etc. I wasn't crazy about the company or their prices but they said tto was the deal. Then when I found this cheaper lotion I was hooked.

H.,
I used to have really bad dandruff and tried tea tree oil. It made my scalp snow white with dandruff. My hairdresser told me to use a moisturizing shampoo. I did and it worked.

I currently used tea tree oil for my excessively dry hair. It has been unsuccessful thus far. I was told that pure coconut oil is excellent for the hair; however its costly. I am going to purchase it the end of the week and I'll let you know the results. If anyone has any other recommendations for dry hair... please share. I also agree with another mother that mention quality is the key. For your daughter, I would recommend you using organic oils such as from a whole food/ natural stores or just quality oils if not organic because that can be costly as well but last a long time.
